Welder Fitter I

Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Welder Fitter I in Houma, Louisiana. POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible to perform basic set ups and fundamental welds to specification. Cutting parts and using pre-cut parts to fit according to blueprints to build or repair varied components. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare pre-cut parts or construct parts by cutting with a torch. Grind pieces to fit and assemble for welding according to drawings or other specifications, producing quality work in an efficient manner. • Tack parts and clean for final welding. • Apply type and size weld required according to specifications. • Inspect weld for defects. Clean for testing. • Check blueprints for measurements and proper material. Prepare a materials list if required. • Maintain a clean and safe work area and keep equipment in good working order. • Prepare welds for Non Destructive Testing (NDE) • Identify welds with ID stamp OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Complete any required paperwork. • May assist other areas of production as needed. • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor. • Able to operate forklifts and overhead cranes. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum of six months prior experience. • Certified on 1G Plate. • Must successfully complete company administered test of basic welds at 1G Plate level, to include stick, flux core. • Basic mathematical skills to include measurement computations. • Good verbal communication skills. • Ability to follow both simple and complex instructions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Frequent bending, standing, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, climbing and awkward body positioning. • Lifting and carrying requirement of 45 pounds. • Non climate controlled environment.
