Description The welder is responsible for welding associated with the dredge, attendant plant and pipeline. Requires experience in cutting, fabricating, cleaning, and welding all types of metals to perform the required welding tasks to complete assignments. Must be able to work 8 to 12 hour shifts on all types of dredges or marine construction projects. Must work a rotating schedule and provide transportation to and from the jobsite(s). Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following, additional duties may be assigned: • Responsible for welding/cutting/grinding on prefabricated structural components to retrofit according to the applicable drawings. • Examine structural members for defects and measure dimensions to ensure conformance with specifications and any applicable drawings. • Layout, position, align, and fit components together. • Set-up and perform welding operations on different metal components such as pipe piles and I-beams. • Maintain inventory of welding equipment, welding gases, and other welding supplies • Keep a daily report/record of quantities completed. • Assist in the development of Work Element Plans and JSA’s for completing the work. • Participates in site safety and planning meetings and near miss reporting. • Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment Qualifications • 3+ years welding experience, marine experience preferred. • Experience with proper welding techniques, arc gouging, gas welding and cutting, pipe fitting and fabrications. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. • Ability to work 40+ hours/week and weekend work. • Ability to work with standard welding and cutting tools such as (but not limited to); Flux Core, Stick and Mig Welding, acetylene/oxygen, plasma. • Must have experience welding all types of metal(s) including, hard or soft steel, stainless steel, and aluminum and be able to fabricate and fit metal components of various sizes and shapes. • Able to communicate well as part of a small team, and work cooperatively with other colleagues. • Must be professionally certified with Flux Core and Stick. AWS Accredited Certified Welder Certification required. • Valid picture identification required.
