Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in metal fabrication and welding, with proficiency in various tools and techniques. MUST KNOW HOW TO FIT AND WELD FOR THIS POSITION. Responsibilities: - Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to fabricate metal parts - Perform welding tasks using GMAW and FCAW processes - Utilize handheld tools such as a plasma cutter, hand torch, and grinders. - Utilize handheld micrometers and other measuring tools to ensure precision. - Conduct basic math calculations for measurements and material quantities - Maintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methods. - Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards. - Operate cranes and rigging equipment for material handling - Rework and/or repair welded parts and products according to engineering specifications. Job Title: Shipfitter / Fitter (Newport News, VA) Compensation: • Hourly Rate: $45 • Per Diem: $140 Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Advanced Shipfitter with a minimum of four years of commercial, Industrial, or naval experience as a first-class Shipfitter. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in welding, burning, heating, and interpreting complex structural drawings. Key Responsibilities • Perform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process. • Operate oxygen/propane burning torches for cutting and heating. • Read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches. • Understand weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines. • Use a ruler to comprehend fractional dimensions and lay off piece parts for fabrication. • Assemble structural components to meet high-quality standards. • Work in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication. • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry. • Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns. Welder A typically has 5 plus year of experience.
