Job Description: Howard Industries is looking for a talented Welding Engineer to join our growing team based in Laurel, MS. This position will be the subject matter expert for all welding processes within Howard Industries facilities. This position will be involved in welding design, process development, capital projects, procedure development, process improvement, welder training and weld quality. Responsibilities • Facilitate the welder training program at Howard Industries • Participate in engineering design reviews and manufacturing reviews • Welding Procedure development • Troubleshooting welding equipment when needed • Troubleshooting and solving weld quality issues • Specify and order new equipment as needed • Participate in Automation projects as required • Participate in weld quality team meetings • Other tasks as assigned by manager Education and Experience • B.S. in Welding Engineering, Materials Joining Engineering or related degree • Ability to gain CWI certification or current CWI certification is preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities • Knowledge of national welding codes such as AWS D1.1, AWS B2.1, AWS D9.1. • Welding process knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, SW, ERW. • Robot Programming knowledge is a plus. • Ability to be hands-on in problem solving welding related issues and troubleshoot welding equipment. • Ability to work independently and prioritize problems/projects as needed with little input. • CAD experience including AutoCAD and Inventor • Be proficient in using Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access
