Position Description: JOB TITLE: Welder REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Welds metal parts together, as specified by layout, diagram, work order or verbal instructions, using equipment which introduces shield of inert gas or noncombustible gas, such as helium, argon, carbon dioxide, or nitrogen, around electric arc between electrode and work piece to prevent oxidation. Selects and installs gas orifice and threads consumable wire electrode through portable welding gun. Connects hose from specified gas tank to gun. Turns knobs to select gas pressure, electric current, and speed of electrode wire feed. Connects cables from welding unit to work piece and electrode holder. Strikes arc and manually guides electrode tip along weld line. Welds with non-consumable tungsten electrode equipped with automatic filler wire feed or applies filler rod by hand. Cleans or degreases work pieces, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath. Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes or makes equipment weld repairs. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal parts preparatory to welding and aligns as required. Examines work pieces and measures dimensions for conformance to specifications, using tape, rule or square. All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Must have good basic math skills. Must have technical education, training or certification and prior experience welding Able to understand blueprints and use basic measuring instruments. Able to read wiring schematics. General Education Diploma. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift/carry 45 lbs. without assistance. Must be able to sit or stand for up to eight (8) hours at a time. Job Title: Mig Welder Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mig Welder to join our team on the 2nd shift. You will be responsible for welding on mild steel ranging from 12 gauge to 1 inch in various positions including flat, vertical down, and overhead. The ideal candidate will have experience in setting up their welder and job, as well as measuring, cutting, bending, and building frames using hand and power tools. Responsibilities • Perform welding on mild steel in flat, vertical down, and overhead positions. • Set up welding equipment and jobs independently. • Measure, cut, bend, and build frames using hand and power tools. • Use tape measure and other measuring tools for precision. • Grind and polish welds for a clean finish. • Operate Miller welders efficiently. Essential Skills • 5 years of MIG welding experience on mild steel. • Proficiency in fabrication, flux core, and structural steel welding. • Ability to read blueprints and use a tape measure for 3 years. • Experience in fitting and assembly tasks.
