MIG Welder Location: Rockford, IL Rate: $25-$35/hr Are you a skilled welder looking for an opportunity to grow your career in a supportive and dynamic environment? Full Benefits package available This position is responsible for fabricating & welding processes on heavy lifting equipment. • Performs basic fit up operation in preparation for welding. Generally welds stock and standard products that may require the use of fixtures. • Performs MIG welding on products with low complexity of moving parts. Regularly welds plate thicknesses up to 1/4" • Meets welding time and quality standards, as established by the organization. • Uses overhead crane to position weldments. • Maintains a safe work environment. Reports defective tools and equipment. • Complies with all safety rules and regulations. Requirements: • Minimum High School or equivalent education • Minimum 3 years welding experience Minimum 3 years fit-up experience • Demonstrated proficiency welding up to 3/8” • Experience with metal core spray transfer using O45 and O52 diameter wire preferred • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints • Demonstrated ability to perform layout work for drilling • Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills • Ability to use hand plasma and air arc tools • Certified for overhead crane and forklift • Ability to earn a MIG Welding Certificate

Welder/Fabricator 2nd Shift

Pay Range: $18.00 – $30.00 per hour PURPOSE/FUNCTION/SUMMARY (TRAINING NEEDS) Weld and fabricate metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring tools. Welders read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to determine operations, required materials, and timeframes for projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety • Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED • Proven experience as a MIG welder • Basic hand tools a requirement • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG and MMA experience is a plus) • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.) • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) • Attention to detail • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required • Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus Please email your resume to hr@roperwhitney.com
