Tig Welder & Assembly Technician

+ Builds welding programs (Orbital & Manual) with little to no engineering oversight. + Reviews engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable. + Assemble and install parts on products per production instructions, procedures and drawings, and execute tasks including but not limited to bending tubes to meet proper interface, prepping the end of the product for termination needs taking proper care not to damage product components such as electrical cables, torque/tension fasteners as required, mixing potting material, etc. + Properly record traceability information during the work activities + Creates templates and other work aids to hold and align parts. + Determines type of welding to be used, such as metallic arc, inert gas, electrode, and oven treatment, applying knowledge of metals to be joined, contours and angles to be formed, and specified stress tolerances. + Inspects grooves, angles, gap allowances, and related aspects of assembly to ensure conformance to specifications, using micrometer, caliper, and related precision measuring instruments. + Understands how changes to the preparation of the tube/material will change the inputs required for welding. + Performs work and troubleshooting requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heats, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage and expansion + Achieve, maintain, and actively perform certified orbital and certified manual (hand) OSS welding procedures inspected according to the relevant quality program (typically ultrasonic and/or radiographic, die penetrant and bend testing). + Performs assembly of medium complexity components - umbilical terminations and distribution equipment. + Actively participate on and strictly follow standards of the Lean Manufacturing Program & Health, Safety, Security, and Environment programs. + Other duties as assigned + High school Diploma or GED. + At least 2-3 years of relevant experience. + Associate Degree in welding (or equivalent). Welder/Fitter Week Shift - Full-time

Job Requirements Aluminum Welding Shop Welder Level 3 • Has nominal aluminum welding experience or passed the AIDT welding course. • Can perform simple welding task that has little to no quality requirements. • Has the aptitude and desire to learn the welding process directed by Silver Ships Inc. Welder Level 2 • Every skill set from Welder Level 3 • Has the ability to weld to a certain standard instructed by his/her supervisor based on the projects welding requirements. • Has minimum weld deficiencies that require rework. • Has the ability to repair any weld deficiencies in a timely matter. • Complies to the companies welding, safety, and quality standards. Welder level 1 • Every skill set from Welder Level 2 • Proficient in Pulse aluminum GMAW and or GTAW • Can weld in accordance with given weld schedule depicted on blueprints with little to no supervision required. • Can pass the certified welder test based on ABS and CWI standards from FMS. • Must be able to perform basic maintenance and repairs on the welding machines required to perform his/her job. Physical Requirements for all levels: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks. Must be able to change your own shielding gas bottle required for welding. Metal Fabrication Shop Requirements Fitter Level 3 • An entry level fitter lays out and fabricates simple aluminum structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, frames, and small components, and then tack welds them in position within the hull or assembly of the vessel. • Has the ability to work from a blueprint on simple fabricating tasks with constant intermediate supervision from either a foreman or senior fabricator. • Has less than one year of experience in the aluminum fabricating field. Fitter Level 2 • Every skill set from Fitter Level 3 • Has the ability to work from a blueprint on most standard fabricating tasks with occasional supervision from either a foreman or senior fabricator. • Has more than a year of experience in the aluminum fabricating field. Fitter level 1 • Every skill set from Fitter Level 2 • Has the ability to work from a blueprint on all fabricating task, including complicated hull designs and components without any supervision from a foreman or senior fabricator. • Can be called upon to supervise or advise lesser skilled employees working on similar projects. • Can perform tasks or projects in the projected or estimated time based on the production schedule. • Quality is without question. • Must be able to perform basic maintenance and repairs on the welding machines required to perform his/her job.
