Welder - Railroad Freight Car Repair

Job Description: We are currently seeking a Welder/Fabricator for our railroad car repair department. Previous railroad experience is preferred but we will train the right individual !! A qualified candidate would preferably have a background in welding and metal fabrication / assembly. Our employees work with standard metal working equipment such as welders, grinders, torches, and various hand tools normally inside a shop setting. This position involves occasional travel and possible rotations onto a night shift. Night shift rotation is mandatory for all employees but shall not exceed 30 days 330 pm - 230 am 4 nights per week. Night shift pays an additional $.92 per hour and has 3-day weekends every weekend. Job Perks: • Pay up to $31.50 per hour • Hourly base 40 hr/week ($60K) plus occasional overtime 10-20 hrs/week • Generous company paid 401(k) retirement profit sharing • Annual cash bonuses • Benefit package includes health, dental, disability, vision, long and short term disability Job Duties: Fabricators will be given individual projects on a daily basis and are expected to work individually or with a partner depending on the given project. Expected to perform tasks with little to no direct supervision. Applicants MUST be available to take turns based on seniority and work up to a 30-day rotation on night shift 3:30pm-2:30am (4-10 hr nights) Monday - Thursday. If assigned to a night shift, this adds $.92 of shift differential pay. Job Qualifications: • Must be able to pass an in-house weld test and subsequently pass a company paid AWS certification within 30 days. • Most work is inside, but occasionally must be able to work outdoors in wet and cold (below freezing) weather. • Must have previous experience using metal working equipment. • This is strenuous work requiring good corrected vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching and lifting.

WELDER-FABRICATOR Job Summary Department: Welding/Fabrication Reports to: Fabrication Supervisor/Plant Manager Location: Kansas City, MO Summary Perform an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Job Responsibilities: • Works from complex instr., drawings, specs, blueprints etc. • Fits, files, grinds, aligns parts, clamps and welds. • Uses primarily MiG welders to assemble components. • Select type and size of rods and flux, heat range, temperature settings. • May drill and tap holes in components or sub-assemblies. • May perform mechanical/hydraulic/electrical assembly and installation. • Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; Sweep, dust and mop • Locate and pull parts per order • Complete required paperwork and computer data entry • Wear the proper safety equipment • Work safely and adhere to Load King’s safety requirements Identify Tools/Machines Used: • Welders, (MIG or wire feed). • Grinder, chipping. • Pneumatic tools, wrenches, impact wrenches, hand tools, hammers. • Pry bars, drills, saw. • Shears, lathes, drill press, brake press, burner table. Skills and Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent preferred • Two plus years of progressive assembly and welding experience in a similar work environment • Demonstrated mechanical, welding, and repair abilities. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks. • Exhibits strong judgment and decision-making skills. • Must have personal initiative. • Will work independently or in team or work group environment. • Must possess a strong desire to learn. Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred but not required Working Conditions: • Work is conducted inside and outside during all-weather types. • Temperatures will be variable according to season and specific work site. • Tasks may involve moderate to heavy physical labor. • Walking, climbing, standing, sitting, and lifting are required.
