Job description Snyder Engineering, Inc., is a multifaceted Steel Fabrication Company involved in the fabrication of structural steel components, and specializing in miscellaneous steel structures of stairs and handrails. We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Metal Fabricator/Welder to work in our Columbia, Missouri, Fabrication shop. Candidates must have at least 3 years of steel fabrication and welding experience. Qualified Candidates for this position will be able to perform the following duties: • Interpret drawings to fabricate parts per blueprint, (be able to read and build from drawings) - Must be able to interpret and understand basic weld symbols • Lay out positions, align, and fit components together • Bolts, clamps and tack-welds parts to a secure position for welding • Measure, tack and weld to make assemblies • Mig/Tig and stick weld on a variety of materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum • Must be able to weld tube, pipe and plate as well as finished metal products • Plasma/torch cutting, grinding and polishing as needed • Run secondary fabrication equipment such as saw, drill, ironworker, etc. (skilled in the use of all typical metal shop tools and machinery) • Knowledge of shears and press brakes a plus Requirements: • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy • Be able to strictly follow work instructions, have good attention to detail and be quality minded • Must work well in a team environment and be self-sufficient when working alone • Can work with minimal supervision from managers • Work easily and skillfully with hands • Physically – Lift up to 75 LBS; frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing 25 to 50 LBS. • Stand for long periods of time • Stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed • Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects • Other duties as assigned • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical including drug screen • Reliable Transportation • Three years of fabrication and welding experience. Key Responsibilities: • Join, surface or otherwise fabricate or repair structures or parts of metal or other weldable material applying the following welding or cutting processes: arc, gas, resistance, solid state (friction, ultrasonic, cold, explosion, diffusion) and other processes such as electrolag, electron beam, induction, thermite and last beam. • Weld together metal components of such products as pipelines, automobiles, support structures and frames and various tools and equipment as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, work order or oral instructions. • Must be able to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead position. • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications. • Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment. • May perform or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records. • Perform other duties as assigned. Shift 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday Minimum Qualifications • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. • Four years actual work experience and training which may includeequivalent of apprenticeship or completion of vocational training, in trade. • Ability to read blueprints, plans, and drawings. • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade. • Ability on a daily basis to: - Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment. - Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.). - Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc. - Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs. - Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. • A valid driver’s license may be required. Preferred Qualifications Must possess a valid driver’s license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.
