Fabricator/Welder- 1st Shift - Now Hiring

As a Fabricator/Welder, you will be responsible for welding a variety of material thicknesses, various joint configurations, and positions. You will be dealing with common fabrication practices such as grinding, sheet metal bending, squaring of structures, fitting parts, and reading weld schematics. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • Experience: At least 1 year of welding experience or training. Must have or achieve welding certification. Ability to obtain forklift certification. Production welding or a certificate in welding is required. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF WELDING TEST AS PART OF INTERVIEW • Skills: Able to read tape measure and blueprints. Able to properly operate welding equipment. Must be trained in applicable SOPs and work instructions. Welding machine, cutting torch, brush, pad, buffer, grinder, overhead crane, ratchet straps, rubber hammer, tape measure. They will also be responsible for running various machinery such as brake press, punch press, control press, shear, and cut-off saw. • Customer Focus: Requires regular attendance during scheduled shifts and overtime and weekends as required. • Physical Demands: Manufacturing/welding position; spends more than 2/3 of time standing/ kneeling/crouching/reaching. Generally, requires clear vision at close distances (for reading prints/instructions and marking reference points.) WHAT YOU'LL DO • Reference blueprint and confers with Lead person to determine job requirements. • Gather necessary materials and perform layout per specifications. • Set up the welding machine and adjust settings. • Operate welding gun to weld steel, aluminum, etc., pieces together. • Visually examine welds for adherence to quality standards; reweld defective joints and remove surplus slag, flux, and spatter using a brush, pad, buffer, and/or grinder. • Operate cutting torch and manual plasma cutter as needed. • Apply weld stencil and notify the Lead person or Inspector when the product is ready for inspection. • Perform ongoing housekeeping duties to keep the work area clear of scrap and debris. This job was posted by https://www.kansasworks.com : For more information, please see: https://www.kansasworks.com/jobs/13091212 • Perform all work duties with safety as primary responsibility. • Plan, sequence, setup and perform a variety of operations involved in the layout, fitting, welding and/or bolting of a variety of assemblies made from steel beams, plates, angels, channels, etc. • Duties require the use of rules, squares, bevels, chalk lines, jigs and fixtures, etc. together with the use of drawings. • Use hoist of overhead crane to position and move material. • Obtain main material, detail pieces and shop drawings for work as assigned by the supervisor. • Prepare necessary jigs and fixtures required. • Set up area and establish control points for making lay-down of a combination of girders. • Working from drawings, position and assemble component pieces into the correct location and relative configuration as specified. • Perform necessary layout of material as required. • Clamp, bolt and/or tack weld the parts together for subsequent final bolting or welding. • Check and inspect parts and pieces for accuracy. • Grind, burn bend, straighten, etc. as required to achieve correct fit or advise supervisor of pieces, which need to be re-worked. • Check and adjust camber as required. • Instruct, train and check the work of helpers, welders and/or other fitters assigned to work crew. • Keep required job time and production records. • Detect faulty operations, defective material and errors in drawings. Report questionable cases to supervisor. • Maintain the work area, tools and equipment in a clean, proper and orderly manner. • Follow Company quality and quantity work requirements and safety rules and regulations.
