Responsible for interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. Responsible for inspecting completed welds to determine structural soundness. Responsible for welding and fitting various large structural steel components for NAVSEA-related equipment. Responsibilities • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques. • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process. • Inspect completed welds to ensure structural soundness. • Weld and fit various large structural steel components for NAVSEA-related equipment. Essential Skills • 3-5+ years experience in structural fitting and welding. • 3-5+ years experience in flux core welding and pulse welding. • 3-5+ years experience in reading and interpreting structural blueprints and welding symbols. • Proficiency in converting fractions to decimals to 1/16th and/or 1/32nd from tape measures. Our Jacksonville Ship Repair facility is seeking to hire various skill levels from Journeyman level production welders' step 1 to step 3 and above mechanics. • The primary tasks include the welding of newly fabricated structural members and plating • Other tasks include the welding of outfitting items such as electrical cableways, brackets, watertight hatches/doors and many other components in accordance with Module fabrication . • All tasks require strict adherence to the company’s safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. • A structural welder should be able to read and utilize welding procedures and welding symbols. • A structural welder should be able to safely and efficiently use an oxy-fuel torch to apply pre-heat to materials prior to welding. • A structural welder should be able to safely and efficiently use air carbon arc gouging equipment to gouge welds. • A structural welder should be able to safely and efficiently use electric and pneumatic grinders to prepare materials for welding, as well as to clean and contour finished welds. • A structural welder should be able to use measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions of weld joints in accordance with approved joint designs. • A structural welder should be able to use weld gauges to verify weld size and quality in accordance with specifications. • A structural welder should be able to utilize ceramic backing in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions with the semi-automatic welding processes. • A structural welder should be able to pass groove-weld qualification tests in all positions for multiple materials and processes, such as Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) of high strength steel and stainless steel, as well as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-Pulse) of aluminum and steel . • Must be able to obtain DBIDS Access Card. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Must have a basic understanding of the Military standard 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication. Demonstrate the ability to pass the following including FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee and open butt in 2G and 3G positions. Demonstrate ability to perform GMAW pulse and spray arc in all positions. 3 to 5 years' experience in shop fabrication preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification Systems "DBIDS" access badge.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills High School Diploma Graduate or GED Equivalency Certificate/Diploma. Structural Welder - 2nd Shift

Summary Objective Capable of performing a variety of welding functions in all positions on structural plate and 6G pipe with SMAW, FCAW and GTAW. Willingness to cross train for multi-function structural and piping assembly processes Essential Functions • Fluent in understanding job specific WPS / PQR’s and capable of setting machine up for performance in all positions to certified testing criteria. • Analyze blueprints for welding insignia and the application thereof to assembly components on piping and structural systems. • The ability to identify correctly, measure, hand dress, cut and fit prepare metal surfaces for welding process to be completed per job specific requirements. • Capable of visual observation of pre- and post-welded surfaces; and the interpretation of fulfilled job requirements with micrometer, caliper, and other precision measuring instruments. • Technically proficient in the interpretation of insufficient weld criteria and knowledge to efficiently blend to repair. • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solver who can understand and follow instruction. • Accountability for completion of daily work assignments while monitoring quality, safety, and health regulations. • Operate overhead cranes and or forklifts. • Complies with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements and is physically / medically qualified to wear required PPE per OSHA standards. • Responsibilities may require sedentary work, including but not limited to computer operation, video review, classroom or online training, job observations/inspections, and peer work review. • Prepares for ISO 9001 and other audits.
