Job Title: Welder and Fabricator Job Description This role involves reading blueprints and welding for a structural steel fabrication company. The candidate must be comfortable with using technology such as iPads and have experience in Mig/Flux core/metal core welding, specifically working with steel or metal. Pay & Schedule Pay: $17-$23/hr, depending on weld test and experience 2nd Shift: 3pm-11:30pm Monday-Friday (Company likes to work extended hours Monday-Thursday to aim to finish early or not work on Friday's) Responsibilities • Read and interpret blueprints to fabricate structural steel components. • Perform Mig, Flux core, and metal core welding to create welds that pass visual inspection, x-ray, or other nondestructive testing as required. • Construct all structural pieces according to drawings and standards for each specific job. • Layout, torch cut, grind, tack weld, and safely operate overhead cranes. • Adhere to all work instructions provided by the Production Supervisor and/or QC Inspector. • Participate actively in Lean Manufacturing Initiatives. • Ensure all work is performed safely in compliance with company policies and procedures. Essential Skills • Proficiency in Mig welding, including Flux core and metal core techniques. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. • Experience in fitting and fabrication processes. • Capability to perform welds that meet AWS code requirements. • Skill in tack welding, torch cutting, gouging, and operating overhead cranes. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with technology tools like iPads. • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed based on workload. Main Responsibilities: • Manually guide welding gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molted puddle. • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. • Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal. • Clean or degrease weld joints or work piece(s). • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes. • Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces. • Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture. • *Required Qualifications: • At least 6 months of experience welding in the gas distribution industry, preferably TDW. • Must have your own welding rig. • Associate’s degree or completion certificate from two-year college or trade school. (Experience in lieu of education may be considered.) • Current driver’s license with good driving record • Current DOT physical or ability to obtain one • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
