About the position Responsibilities • Teaches assigned courses in welding. • Assists in curriculum development, course reports, and textbook selection. • Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content. • Communicates effectively and efficiently with students. • Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes. • Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials. • Applies classroom management strategies in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats. • Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills. • Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner. • Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner. • Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills. • Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession. • Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials. • Serves on department, school, and college-wide committees. • Participates in the promotion and continuing contract process. • Keeps scheduled office hours for academic advising. • Records student attendance as necessary. • Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions. Requirements • High School Diploma and certification in Welding Technology required. • Minimum of 3 years of full-time occupational experience or equivalent part-time experience in welding required. • Prior teaching experience preferred; candidates must provide welding certification(s) with application. Nice-to-haves • Prior classroom teaching and simulation facilitation experience preferred.
