Position: Marine Welder Improver – 1st & 2nd Shift | Local & Non-Local with Per Diem Location: Jacksonville, FL Join Our Team at NSC! NSC is seeking Marine Welder Improvers to support structural repairs and modernization of vessels including U.S. Navy ships, Military Sealift Command vessels, and commercial ships. Positions are available for both 1st and 2nd shifts, with local and non-local rates. Per diem is available for non-local candidates. Job Responsibilities: • Assist journeyman/1st class welders with production welding tasks onboard ships and in the shop • Perform hot work preparation and welding-related support • Inspect and clean weld joints, document conditions, and report deficiencies • Follow safety protocols, including Lock-out Tag-out procedures • Provide guidance to helpers as needed and maintain a clean work area Requirements: • 1 year of welding experience preferred • Ability to certify in: • SMAW (T-1-HY) • FCAW (T-34-A) • Understanding of SMAW and FCAW theory • Ability to interpret technical drawings and Navy/MSC/ABS specifications • Must be able to operate and maintain welding tools and equipment • Must pass physical requirements (lifting, climbing, confined spaces, etc.) • Must be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, respirator, goggles, harness, etc.) • DBIDS required Work Environment: • Shipyard and onboard vessels • Exposure to extreme temperatures, confined spaces, noise, and mechanical equipment • Must be able to work at heights and in physically demanding environments Why NSC Staffing?
