Welder/Fabricator

Job Title: Welder Department: Fabrication / Manufacturing Reports To: Welding Supervisor or Office Manager Location: Freedom Marine & Industrial 2959 N Kerr Ave, Wilmington, NC 28405 Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our team. The Welder will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding. The ideal candidate will ensure the quality and safety of all welded components and meet production deadlines. Key Responsibilities: • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. • Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a welding procedure specification (WPS). • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead). • Inspect welds for accuracy and quality, and perform necessary repairs or corrections. • Operate tools such as grinders, cutting torches, and measuring instruments. • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). • Maintain equipment and welding tools in good working order. • Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and according to specifications. Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred. • Proven experience as a welder (1–3 years minimum). • Proficient in various welding techniques: MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), Flux-Core (FCAW), etc. • Knowledge of metal properties and welding symbols. • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments. • Strong attention to detail and safety-oriented mindset. • Welding certification(s) (AWS, ASME, etc.) preferred but not required. Work Environment: • Exposure to loud noise, heat, and hazardous materials. • Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Structural Welder

Fabricator needed for structural steel/ architectural decorative metals company. Applicant should be proficient in layout and building of structural steel components, stairs, railings, and also have the mindset needed for high end projects with tight tolerances. Must have experience with layout and general shop tools, horizontal band saw, mag drill, and mig, stick, welding of primarily mild steel, aluminum, and stainless is a plus. Welding certs required (or ability to obtain) for welding position and not required for helper position. Wood work/structural steel experience experience a major plus. Intracoastal Iron & Metalwork is an established and stable company that has been in business for over 16 years, this is a job shop environment with some field work.
