POSITION SUMMARY — Must possess MIG (Wire/GMAW) welding skills including setup of welders and ability to weld vertical and horizontal welds with satisfactory results using aluminum and/or steel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Check and adjust program to ensure proper program is set to the machine • First Off Procedure (specification, place jig, check dimensions, check first product) • MIG weld and set up (join/fabricate materials: steel and/or aluminum) • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards • Assemble items as instructed by work instructions • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules, and regulations and take proper care of all equipment and facilities • Examine work for defects • Identify and handle nonconforming parts • Ensure welder is in proper working condition (check temperature) • Read welding work schedule • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers • Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings. SKILLS & ABILITIES • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements • Ability to provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task • Effectively work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency • Ability to use measuring equipment (calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges) • Ability to operate small grinding equipment (right angle grinder, pencil grinder, belt sander, etc.) • Ability to know a good weld versus a bad weld in terms of Dee Zee standards • Ability to read and understand written work instructions • General knowledge of how to use welding equipment • Know how to set up machines for personal preferences • Ability to use hand tools (clamps, grinders, etc.) • Possess vertical and horizontal welding skills POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Graduate, GED, or HSDE; Associate's Degree preferred Experience: One-year related experience preferred; MIG welding experience and/or training preferred Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy Certificates & Licenses: Welding Certificate preferred Other Requirements: Must pass the welding test
