Welding Specialist

Job Title: Welding Specialist - Drums Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI) FLSA: Hourly - Non-Exempt Grade: 2 Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-5% Revision Date: March 4, 2021 Reports To: Plant Manager PURPOSE OF POSITION Responsible for processing parts using the plasma cutter and oxy/fuel torches by performing duties and responsibilities listed below. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. More specifically, the person will: • Weld parts together using single or multi-pass welds. • Utilize the correct weld gauge for the correct size weld. • Use and Understand various paperwork, including schedules, prints, & tech standards. • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement by practicing good housekeeping and organization in their work area • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results within budget, time and quality specifications. • As business needs arise, complete assignments in other areas and related task assignments in work areas • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, policies and regulations. • Demonstrate regular/dependable attendance. • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping. • Continually participate in additional training related to the job. • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area. • Continually participate in additional training related to the position. • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance. Welder (Overnights)

Are you the type of person who moves quickly, is independent and adapts well to new and different situations? In this role you will use welding skills to include fit-up, tacking and welding of cast, machined, forged and fabricated steel components to assemble industrial equipment. We’re looking for dedicated team members with a drive to build the best. What You’ll Do 1. Complete weldments in various welding positions according to blueprints and welding procedure specifications using GMAW-P by following Vermeer Welding Standards. 2. Position, align and fit components together utilizing fixturing. Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding according to blueprints and welding procedure specifications. 3. Set and operate an OFC oxyfuel torch for preheating safely and efficiently. 4. Perform regular and routine maintenance on welding equipment. 5. Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offer suggestions and make improvements that achieve the department’s performance board metrics. What We’re Looking For • Ability to complete Vermeer Weld Training to achieve the required certifications, licenses or registrations of GMAW, 1G-L, 1G-UL, 3F and 4F. • Welding experience preferred. • Calculate figures and apply basic mathematical functions including fractions and decimals. • Ability to perform basic computer functions. • Ability to perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis. • Ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action in multiple situations. • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Travel • No travel is expected of this position.
