As a Welder in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the IBT Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. Your work will include: • Read and understand Drawings • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick and flux-core welding • Aluminum welding • Reviews weld drawings and procedures. • Receives and maintains identity of released components • Receives, stores, and maintains identity/traceability of weld and weld wire • Devises and sets up tooling and fixtures as needed to result in an acceptable product by hand or with material handling equipment • Complies with all plant work rules, regulations and specific instructions This position requires occasional travel. Your Total Rewards Package The range of base salary for the position is between $30.20 - $39.50 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Experienced Welder or Fitter - Fab Shop

Required Skills: • Read and interpret blueprints. • Experience in FCAW welding/fitting, structural steel background preferred. • Recognize and understand weld symbols. • Accurately read a tape line. Responsibilities and Duties: • Weld components in vertical or horizontal position. • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) • Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to constantly work in various indoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions. • Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally. • Must be able to carry a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally. • Frequent standing, walking, reaching forward, balancing, feeling, object handling, simple hand grasping, firm hand grasping, and operating controls will be required. • Regular sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching will be required. • Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Full Time, Night Shift, Hourly Position Candidates Must Be Able to Learn to: • Assist higher level welders as needed. • Read blueprints, layout and weld assigned components to specification, clean refuse, spatter, slag, and tack marks. • Uses assigned stencil to label work. • Weld required parts using all welder types and welding materials. • Weld metal parts together using brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. • Operates overhead crane under the direction of higher level welders. • Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. • Complete all DIRS and necessary paperwork under the direction of higher level welders. • Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. • Weld headers under the supervision of higher level welders. • Identify gases needed for each type of welding. • Operate cold saw (band saw) and iron worker. • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products prior to welding. • Assist with weld cover on a tank. • Assist with rework and inspection. Minimum Requirements: • Ability to identify what type of wire needed for welding material. • Ability to perform tests and weld repairs as necessary. • Can read a Welding Procedure Specification and perform the procedure with little assistance. • Must pass a 3G FCAW test and a 1G SMAW test with E7018.
