Experienced Welder or Fitter - Fab Shop

Required Skills: • Read and interpret blueprints. • Experience in FCAW welding/fitting, structural steel background preferred. • Recognize and understand weld symbols. • Accurately read a tape line. Responsibilities and Duties: • Weld components in vertical or horizontal position. • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) • Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to constantly work in various indoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions. • Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally. • Must be able to carry a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally. • Frequent standing, walking, reaching forward, balancing, feeling, object handling, simple hand grasping, firm hand grasping, and operating controls will be required. • Regular sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching will be required. • Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Candidates Must Be Able to Learn to • Assist higher level welders as needed. • Read blueprints, layout and weld assigned components to specification, clean refuse, spatter, slag, and tack marks. • Uses assigned stencil to label work. • Weld required parts using all welder types and welding materials. • Weld metal parts together using brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. • Operates overhead crane under the direction of higher level welders. • Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. • Complete all DIRS and necessary paperwork under the direction of higher level welders. • Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. • Weld headers under the supervision of higher level welders. • Identify gases needed for each type of welding. • Operate cold saw (band saw) and iron worker. • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products prior to welding. • Assist with weld cover on a tank. • Assist with rework and inspection. Minimum Requirements • Ability to identify what type of wire needed for welding material. • Ability to perform tests and weld repairs as necessary. • Can read a Welding Procedure Specification and perform the procedure with little assistance. • Must pass a 3G FCAW test and a 1G SMAW test with E7018. Welder I 2nd Shift

SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION: This description summarizes the requirements of a Welder I level employee performing in the Weld classification. Perform entry level work within Arcweld classifications. Work with Welder II and Team Lead employees to acquire skills required for promotion to Welder II level. Must demonstrate the ability to complete and understand direction from Team Lead and other Welder II and Welder III level employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Maintain safe work environment (i.e. use of personal protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, etc) • Perform MIG weld processes based on project needs. • Have basic blueprint knowledge • Deburr and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture • Gain knowledge and inspection practice to ensure conformance to Quality specifications. • Inform Management or Lead of any part or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem. • Start up and stop perform routine operations related to arcwelding related equipment • Familiarize yourself with the tools, instrumentation and calibration equipment. • Clean production area (sweep, mop, and remove debris) • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies. • Feed or place items onto equipment for processing. • Ensure conformance to specifications. • Mark parts for identification. • Place equipment on conveyor belt for further processing. • Scrape waste material from machine. • Read and interpret gauges. • Record data. • Use Epicor ERP to log into and out of jobs • Take instructions from Management and Lead person. • Conserve resources and supplies to facilitate minimum waste. • Work from routings, manufacturing instruction sheets, blueprints, visual aids, or other instructions to manufacture product at required quality levels. • Recommend and select proper tooling for required tasks, as well as recommend productive process changes. • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions • Conserve resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction • Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma, GED and or equivalent experience with power and hand tools a plus Basic Math and Communication skills required Arcweld certification a plus PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment. Will receive objects or parts on conveyer belt, be responsible for your portion of the job, and then pass materials down conveyer belt or to next worker.
