This role is critical in developing precise and competitive project cost estimates for utility-scale solar installations. • Electrical Estimation: • Prepare comprehensive electrical estimates for utility-scale solar projects, including material, labor, equipment, and all associated costs. • Analyze project specifications, electrical plans, and bid documents to determine scope, risks, and pricing strategies. • Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical components such as wiring, inverters, switchgear, transformers, and other equipment. • Cost Analysis and Budgeting: • Develop accurate cost models and budgets to support project bids and proposals. • Research and maintain up-to-date pricing for materials, labor, and equipment relevant to utility-scale solar installations. • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget constraints. • Collaboration and Communication: • Partner with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project estimates and timelines. • Serve as a technical resource during pre-construction meetings, client discussions, and contract negotiations. • Respond to requests for information (RFIs) and provide clarification on estimates and project scope. • Process Improvement and Reporting: • Standardize estimation processes and templates to improve efficiency and consistency. • Generate detailed cost breakdowns and reports for management and clients. • Stay informed on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in utility-scale solar construction. Qualifications: • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in the utility-scale solar or renewable energy industry. • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including NEC codes, medium-voltage design, and solar energy technologies. • Proficiency in estimation tools/software (e.g. Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project). • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents. • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on detail and accuracy. • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent work experience). • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical estimation, a deep understanding of solar energy electrical systems, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
