Sheet Metal Fabricator - Now Hiring

The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for forming, cutting, preparation, fit-up, welding, assembly, and repair of sheet metal products and equipment. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal; operating welding and cutting equipment to join sheet metal parts; and inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces. Must be able to actively/frequently climb in and out of tanks using ladders and other devices, enter/exit through an 18" round manway, and work inside tanks in small, confined spaces. Must not suffer from claustrophobia. Your Responsibilities Will Be: •Read and understand drawings/blueprints. •Perform basic math functions including fractions and decimals, read tape measures and other measuring devices, use levels, squares, and other tools to layout fabricated parts. •Set up and operation of hydraulic press brake; forming various sheet metal and plate parts . •Set up and operation of plate rolls; material size ranges from 20 gauge to 1/4" plate. •Set up and operation of sheet metal shear. Must be able to calculate best cut to minimize scrap. •Must be able to MIG weld from 20 gauge to 3/8" plate; stainless, and carbon steel material. •Must understand or be willing to learn the forming process of various sheet metal parts such as pressed elbows, gorelocked elbows, collars, sleeves, tee branches, reducers, etc. •Must be able to weld in very tight confined spaces, i.e.: inside a small tank with entrance/exit through an 18 inch manway or by climbing over and side via ladder. •Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: •High school diploma or GED required; Trade or Technical School Degree Preferred. •5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication (20 ga to 3/8" thick). •Good mechanical skills. •Basic math skills and the ability to read assembly prints and procedures. •Use basic measuring and layout tools. •Punctual •Ability to work independently and self-motivated. •Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people working towards a common goal. Preferred Qualifications: •Graduate of a welding school, like PTECH. •Welding Certifications are a plus. Travel Requirement: •None ADA Requirements: Very Heavy Work: Exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel. The facility is not air conditioned. Incumbents must be able to weld in tight spaces, 18 inch circumference. •Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods. •Compliance with company attendance standards. Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician Job Description Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment for general aviation aircraft. Work involves setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using a hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; and inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
