The State of New Hampshire, (Agency, Division & Bureau/Unit) has a full-time/part-time, seasonal/temporary) vacancy for (Position Title). Summary: Performs skilled assembly, installation, repair and modification of water and drainage systems and equipment responsible for water supply and removal of liquid and water carried wastes in a wide variety of settings at the level of a licensed master plumber and conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities and equipment. YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 7 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in plumbing, heating technology, or related field. License/Certification: 1. NH Master Plumber license 2. Valid driver’s license Other Requirements: None Trainee Option: Not applicable PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable knowledge of standard practices, tools, materials and equipment of the plumbing trade; considerable knowledge of the provisions of the national and state plumbing codes, and of applicable county rules and regulations; ability to read, understand and interpret to others complex wiring diagrams, plans and blueprints and technical specifications; to test and detect faulty materials, piping and equipment; to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports; and understanding of the potential occupational hazards connected with plumbing work and the safety standards and practices which should be applied.Master plumbers require an understanding of a larger scope of plumbing concepts. AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of the Corrections Academy within 12 months of hire and continuing certification as correctional line personnel, as established by the certifying authority. Responsibilities: Coordinates the activities of trades staff engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems and/or components, including boilers, pumps, cooling towers, steam traps and other related heating and cooling equipment and organizes preventive mechanical measures by repairing, removing and replacing faulty system components. Inspects buildings and structures to assess material or equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, or to plan installation around obstructions, such as electrical wiring. and performs installations of pipes, drains, valves, sprinklers and other related plumbing fitting and fixtures. Supervises the initiation, priority, scheduling, and assignment of work orders/assignments, to tradesmen which may include, but is not limited to, journeymen pipe fitters, steamfitters, helpers, laborers and mechanics in the installation of related plumbing equipment, fire and smoke detection and reporting systems mechanics, and sprinkler systems. Tracks work progress and takes measures to ensure timely completion. Assists Facilities engineering staff in assessing system capabilities, planning to improve deficiencies, and communicating with vendors and installers of equipment, and in preparing for compliance reviews. Formulates recommendations to management to increase energy efficiency of buildings and installs fixtures, appliances or equipment designed to reduce water or energy consumption. Reviews records and code requirements to determine optimal preventive maintenance schedules and procedures, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Establishes operational procedures and work methods including ensuring all required permits for plumbing work are pulled and supervising all related activities associated with the permitted work according to code. Implements agency rules, regulations and policies in supervising an agency program or organizational unit. Participates in program development by summarizing and reporting data relevant to program operations. Collaborates with facilities engineering staff, contractors, customers, vendors, and other state agencies to plan of work and requisition supplies and equipment required for the plumbing field and coordinates various tradesmen on renovation projects to plan for modifications and additions to fire and smoke detection, sprinkler systems, and electrical systems. Monitors contractors and servicemen to assure contract compliance.
