Journeyman Plumber

Job Summary: Assists in the initial design and subsequent installation of new HVAC, plumbing and sanitary systems. Completes preventative maintenance and maintenance on HVAC, plumbing and sanitary systems. All work is documented according to current Brattleboro Retreat, state, local and JCAHO regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school diploma or equivalent 2. A Vermont state journeyman plumber license (includes 4 years experience) 3. Minimums of two additional years experience in pipefitting and steamfitting, or plumbing are required. 4. Must possess a current driving license, and have maintained a safe and clean driving record for the past three years. Core Competencies Assists in the design of the Brattleboro Retreat’s plumbing, sprinkler and HVAC systems. Completes associated tracking, measuring, visual design, and parts list, including documentation of same. Performs maintenance/preventative maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems. Installs new installations, including but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire suppression, and underground utilities in accordance with Brattleboro Retreat requirements and all State, Federal and local regulations. Documents new installations including but not limited to: as built, valve tagging and locating system components through triangulation. Assists Electrical/Fire Safety Coordinator in the completion and documentation of preventative maintenance inspections on Life Safety equipment. Generates material list and recommends or requests purchase of supplies for small projects. Maintains proper inventory level of supplies and develops orders for replacement items as necessary based upon supply and demand. Provides estimates for damages due to vandalism. Performs minor maintenance and preventative maintenance work on buildings. Assists with office and furniture moves, as well as snow and ice control. Inspects and maintains all tools in good clean working condition and returns them to appropriate storage location upon completion of job or end of shift. Ensures all tools are safe for use. Reports damaged, lost or broken tools. Maintains a safe work environment through knowledge of body mechanics, personal protective equipment, MSDS, environment hazards and emergency job procedures.
