The Pipefitter position lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently. Essential Qualifications • Must have NCCER credentials or be able to pass craft test • Must be local candidate • Must have or meet the requirements to pass DISA BGC • 401K immediately vested, benefits after 60 days, holidays after 90 days, vacation after 1 year • High school or equivalent • Four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level) • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.) • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.) • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace Functional Requirements Selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications; inspects work sites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness; plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers; cuts, threads and bends pipe; assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass and plastic; joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused or cemented joints; secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets and hangers; installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping; test piping system for leaks. Compensation Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Job Summary Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing natural gas pipelines and related equipment. Duties and Responsibilities • Laying out, assembling, and installing gas pipes, valves, fittings, and other components according to blueprints and specifications. • Inspecting, testing, and repairing gas pipelines and related equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety. • Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings to understand job requirements. • Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures related to gas handling and pipeline work. • Using various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to cut, thread, and join pipes and fittings. • Identifying and resolving problems with gas leaks, pressure issues, or other malfunctions. • Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders • Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints • Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints. • Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading • Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods. • Secures pipe to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities • Strong understanding of pipe fitting principles, gas safety regulations, and relevant building codes. • Ability to measure, calculate, and perform accurate calculations for pipe sizing, fitting, and installation. • Ability to work with tools and equipment, understand mechanical systems, and troubleshoot problems. • Ability to lift, carry, and work with heavy pipes and equipment. • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to gas handling and pipeline work. • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, other tradespeople, and clients. Pipefitters design, install, maintain, and repair pipe systems used to transport various substances like steam, fluids, and gases in industrial and commercial settings. They use a variety of tools and techniques, including welding, brazing, soldering, and threading, to assemble and secure pipes and fittings Job Summary A pipefitter, repairs, and maintains piping systems. They read design specifications necessary for building appropriate heating, cooling, steam generation, and industrial piping assemblies. They may also work across different environments, from industrial settings, home installations, to install pipe systems in commercial buildings.
