Summary Of Position In partnership with ABC Community Schools Partnership, West Mesa High School, APS Career Connected Learning, New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions State Apprenticeship Office and Local 412 (Pipefitters Union) Outreach and Education Foundation, create the first Pre-Apprenticeship program in the Albuquerque Public Schools District. This program will prepare APS students to enter the Plumber and Pipefitters Union, or other skilled trades construction jobs at a higher pay grade and be OSHA and CPR trained. Limited to 10 students at a time. Hard Skills • Enrolled in High School or GED Soft Skills • Strong written and oral communication skills • Organized student with a positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn • Attention to work rules and deadline Exposure & Training provided through internship APS students will have meaningful internships and opportunities for a great paying job after high school. Students will learn and experience the real-life work of a skilled trades person and become better skilled at the work to make them successful as plumbers, pipe-fitters or other skilled craftsperson. As a result, participants will be able to enter the plumbers and pipefitters or other construction apprenticeship program already accelerated 6 months ahead of others and enter the workplace at a higher rate of pay. You will also be required to sign and upload W-9 and Parental Permission forms. In addition you will be required to electronically acknowledge Non-Disclosure and Internship agreements.
