Position Description: The Construction Inspector will be responsible for the successful execution of several fiber construction projects and the ongoing upkeep and repairs required to maintain and deliver reliable high-speed internet, all of this across multiple markets and with overlapping timelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OSP construction, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project managers. The inspector will oversee placement of infrastructure like underground cables, aerial lines, and handholes, fiber placement and splicing ensuring all work adheres to project specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards by monitoring contractors during installation, identifying any deviations, and recommending adjustments to maintain quality and compliance throughout the construction process. Duties and Responsibilities: • Achieve Lyte Fiber’s annual construction goals for passings built on time and on budget. • Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of network reliability and performance. • Conduct daily audits and inspections to verify compliance with Lyte Fiber’s policies, industry standards, and local regulations. Visually inspect all aspects of OSP installation, including excavation, trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, splicing, grounding, and restoration of disturbed areas. • Oversee third party construction crews for performance safety, quality, cleanup, and repair to ensure the construction activities represent Lyte Fiber in a professional manner and respect the communities we are building to serve. • Maintain detailed inspection reports, including photographs, measurements, and notes documenting the progress of work and any identified issues • Ability to identify issues in the field, analyze potential solutions, and recommend corrective actions. • Interact with residents and community organizations and leaders to address questions, concerns or damage repair through resolution and ensure there is a satisfactory resolution for all parties. • Ensure construction units are placed, and asbuilt documentation is properly collected and provided to OSP engineering for input into the fiber management system. • Complete weekly construction performance reports per contractor. Maintain a construction vendor scorecard and meet quarterly, at minimum, with each construction vendor to review their performance. • Monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to Lyte Fiber’s safety protocols and best practices. Ensure that safety protocols and best practices are consistently followed on all job sites. Address and resolve any safety concerns or violations promptly and promote a culture of safety among team members and contractors. • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to address project issues, provide updates, and ensure smooth project execution. • Identify and resolve constructionrelated issues or discrepancies in a timely manner. Implement corrective action plans as needed to address any challenges or delays. • Be proactive and forwardlooking to anticipate construction issues and ensure there is a strong pipeline of construction activity to absorb unforeseen delays without impacting the performance targets. • Oversee the evaluation of site conditions, including environmental factors and existing infrastructure, to ensure suitability for construction activities. • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, inspection summaries, and other documentation as required. Track project milestones and report any deviations from the project plan.
