Laborers with CAS perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor at building and heavy construction projects. This may include pipe laying and fitting, millwright, carpentry, welding, concrete work, and demolition. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove asbestos, lead, and other hazardous waste materials. Will assist other craft workers. CAS rewards workers who can and want to do more than one skill on the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants however all workers are expected to perform whatever jobs are necessary during construction on the projects.
