Ideal candidates will enjoy working both indoors and outdoors and take pride in maintaining visually appealing spaces for faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors. Key Responsibilities • Construct, maintain and repair structures using masonry materials. Plan layout, mix bonding material, shape and lay stone, brick, tile and other masonry material using appropriate bonding agents. • Repair and finish joints between stones or bricks of masonry structure. Plan layout, remove existing bonding material, mix and apply fresh bonding agent. • Set forms, embed necessary reinforcing materials, pour and finish concrete, asphalt or other surfaces to specified textures. • Break up existing masonry structure using power and hand tools. • Install tile on floors and other areas following design specifications. Prepare surface for tiling by cleaning, filling holes with appropriate material and spreading adhesive base. • Set up and dismantle scaffolding and staging, install drain tiles, waterproofs underground masonry surfaces, apply sealants, cut openings and utility access holes in masonry surface as required. • May perform or assist with preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports, and maintenance of records. • Perform other duties as assigned. Shift 7:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired. • Four years actual work experience and training including the equivalent of apprenticeship or vocational training in a building trade is required. • Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in the trade. • A valid Missouri driver’s license is required. • Ability daily to: Grasp, lift, carry and set down heavy objects (50-75 lbs.) • Shovel snow, climb ladders, and operate heavy power equipment. • Depending on the nature of work performed, may be required to wear a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as outlined in the "Industrial Standard for Respirator Use" Anticipated Hiring Range Commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
