Concrete Construction Laborer

Job Description Summary The laborer is responsible for moving material such as lumber, bending rebar and assisting the carpenter in setting up forms, stripping forms, oiling forms, placing concrete, setting blankets, taping, manual grading, and general clean up on the project. This is a safety sensitive position. Job Site's are in Northern Nevada and Northern California. Possess ability to operate hand tools and hand power tools such as a hammer, tape measure, pliers, shovel, pick, rotohammer, wacker, jack hammers, digging bars, blowers, etc. Previous experience performing the listed duties and tasks for the position. Lives in the Northern Nevada and Norther California area where most of the work will be performed. This is a safety sensitive position. • OSHA 10 or 30 hour certified • High school diploma or GED Equivalent • 18 years or older Physical • Body Positions - Long time periods of bending, lifting and standing. • Body Movements - Ability to walk, climb, stoop, kneel or crawl on uneven ground, carry one hundred (100) pounds, dig with a shovel, swing a pick, swing a mallet, operate vibrating/hopping equipment such as a wacker, rotohammer, etc. Repeated use of hands, eyes, ears, arms and voice. • Body Senses - Ability to obtain information, listening, talking, and seeing. • Mental - Language requirements are reading and the ability to communicate clearly. Working Conditions Primarily outdoor activity during all seasons. Environment also includes frequent work around motor vehicles, cranes, moving equipment and vibrating equipment. This is a safety sensitive position. Essential Functions The basic function of the laborer is to move material such as lumber, oiling forms and general cleanup of the project. Listen to directions, strip forms, and saw cut & demo concrete. This is a safety sensitive position. Duties and Tasks • Get to work as directed and on time daily • Follow instructions as directed by Foreman/Superintendent • Move materials as directed by Foreman/Superintendent • Dig out footings as necessary by using a pick and shovel • Operate equipment such as wacker, rotohammer, etc. as needed • Assist form setters in moving forms and lumber • Oil forms • Assist form setters in placing concrete • Cut, grind and demo concrete • Cleanup project site • Operate tools with caution and care in a manner to obtain maximum usefulness and to extend the lifetime of the tools and/or equipment • Work in a safe, continuous, conscientious manner to produce a quality end product. This is a safety sensitive position. • Make known to foreman/superintendent any safety hazards • Work additional hours' on weekend/overtime required • Ability to work out of town required Minimum tools required for a laborer: • Leather Work Boots • Concrete Gloves • Safety Goggles/Glasses • Hard Hat • Quality Leather Gloves • Rain Gear • 25 Foot or Longer Tape Measure • 22 oz. Construction Laborer

Objective and Responsibilities: Perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade and craft work requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on similar assignments. Follow Material Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials, as required. Work under general supervision from verbal and written instructions and intermittent directions. Duties, Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: • Assist skilled trades or craftsmen. Hold, move, rearrange, lift, carry, and stack items and objects weighing up to approximately 65 lbs. • May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble and debris. Fill and level holes in damaged roadways. Mixes materials and level patch surfaces with whacker/tamper. May assist other craft workers. • Perform tasks involving physical labor at highway, and heavy construction projects and tunnel and shaft excavations. • May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, pick and shovel, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. • May be required to occasionally assist in setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete. To include handling, cleaning and stripping. • At all times, the laborer will work cautiously to promote a safe environment for everyone at or around the job site. • Remains alert for hazards involved on the job site and observe OSHA safety, MSHA and operating rules and regulations.
