Construction Laborer

Objective and Responsibilities: Perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade and craft work requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on similar assignments. Follow Material Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials, as required. Work under general supervision from verbal and written instructions and intermittent directions. Duties, Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: • Assist skilled trades or craftsmen. Hold, move, rearrange, lift, carry, and stack items and objects weighing up to approximately 65 lbs. • May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble and debris. Fill and level holes in damaged roadways. Mixes materials and level patch surfaces with whacker/tamper. May assist other craft workers. • Perform tasks involving physical labor at highway, and heavy construction projects and tunnel and shaft excavations. • May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, pick and shovel, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. • May be required to occasionally assist in setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete. To include handling, cleaning and stripping. • At all times, the laborer will work cautiously to promote a safe environment for everyone at or around the job site. • Remains alert for hazards involved on the job site and observe OSHA safety, MSHA and operating rules and regulations. Job Description We are seeking a Construction Worker 3 to join our team for the Stibnite Mine Development Project in central Idaho. The ‘Construction Worker 3’ primarily serves as a skilled laborer, performing various trades including, but not limited to, carpentry, concrete work, iron work, pipe fitting, HDPE pipe fusing, underground mining, and others. The Construction Worker 3 will work alongside experienced team members and provide essential manual labor across all project sites. This position is meant to accommodate workers who may need to perform multiple or unique tasks not covered by more specific job titles. The ideal candidate should have some experience in different trades and be capable of assisting with various onsite tasks as needed. This is an on-site position following the 19/9 shift rotation, and the Construction Worker 3 will report directly to the Project Foreman. Key Responsibilities · Perform basic-level tasks across multiple trades, including carpentry, concrete work, iron work, pipe fitting, HDPE pipe fusion, crane operation, underground mining, and other specialized activities as required. · Work under the guidance of more experienced workers to provide manual labor and support project needs. · Assist in construction and mining activities, including helping with building structures, pouring concrete, fabricating metal, installing piping systems, operating heavy machinery, and conducting underground operations. · In addition to primary duties, the employee may be required to operate basic equipment or perform support tasks from different trades to aid project requirements. · Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on tools and equipment under supervision. · Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment. · Collaborate with other team members to meet project deadlines and objectives. · Maintain an efficient and clean work area, including proper tool organization, site layout, daily cleanout of equipment, and maintenance of work zones. Scope of Work The ‘Construction Worker 3’ will perform a variety of tasks critical to the Stibnite Mine Development Project, including: · Carpentry Tasks: Assist in constructing, installing, and repairing wooden structures, formwork, and supports for mining and construction activities. · Concrete Work: Help mix, pour, finish, and cure concrete for foundations, slabs, and other structural elements. · Iron Work: Assist in fabricating, welding, and installing reinforcing steel, structural metal, and related components. · Pipe Fitting: Help install, assemble, and maintain piping systems for water, fuel, or other utilities. · HDPE Pipe Fusion: Assist in fusing and installing high-density polyethylene pipes using specialized equipment. · Versatile Support: Fill unique or ad-hoc roles not covered by specific job titles, adapting to project demands under guidance. · Site Preparation: Assist in preparing work areas and equipment for efficient operations in various trades. · Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on tools and machinery from multiple disciplines under supervision. · Consumables Maintenance: Support the management and utilization of consumable items as required across various tasks. · Facility Maintenance: Maintain an efficient and clean site, including proper layout, daily cleanout, and upkeep of work areas. Required Skills and Qualifications · At least two years of experience at a basic skill level in various trades, such as carpentry, concrete work, iron work, pipe fitting, HDPE pipe fusion, crane operation, underground mining, or similar fields. · Proven experience as a skilled laborer in civil construction or mining projects, with the ability to support different roles. · Proficiency in performing basic tasks across different trades, including operating heavy machinery and specialized tools under supervision. · Thorough understanding of multi-trade techniques, safety practices, and flexible work methods. · Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Employees will stay in a camp at the project site during their shifts. The schedule is 19 days on and 9 days off, with two of the 19 days designated as paid travel days. The company will provide transportation to and from the site for both on- and off-shift rotations. Meals will be served at a catered cafeteria at the camp, and employees will have access to showers and laundry services. Camp Policies • The camp is a "dry" camp, meaning the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on-site. • This policy is in place to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees. • Employees must follow this policy at all times during their shifts. Safety and Compliance The Stibnite Mine Development Project operates under the oversight of both OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration). Specifically, multi-trade operations are governed by MSHA regulations, requiring Construction Worker 3 to have MSHA experienced miner training. All employees will complete comprehensive training to obtain the necessary certifications suited to their roles, work locations, and tasks.
