Construction Estimator

Responsibilities 1. Review plans and specifications. 2. Note all special items to be submitted with proposal, i.e. list of qualifications, safety information, etc., and see that someone is taking care of preparing them. 3. Contact subcontractors. 4. Make sure the bid bond is ordered. 5. Perform quantity take-off. 6. Review all addenda, changes and computer work (listing and pricing). 7. Answer all subcontractor questions. 8. Prepare proposal for signature. 9. On bid day, review all subcontractor bids and determine price to be used. 10. After completion of bid, finalize bid file. Make sure a copy of the cost breakdown, bid form complete with numbers, subcontractor backup, and bid results are included. 11. Provide input to Chief Estimator regarding possible leads for work and best available bidding opportunities. 12. Assist in database maintenance. 13. Cultivate relationships with competent contractors and vendors to ensure preferred pricing. 14. Conduct occasional pre-bid site visits to document any unusual site conditions with photographs, video or other means. 15. Perform feasibility studies. Recognize when unconventional methods may be required. 16. Communicate with company field personnel regarding cost and production history. 17. Research files from related previously submitted bids and other sources for information to assist in estimate preparation. 18. Adhere to company and estimating division procedures. 19. Research and develop new methods for improving how we put cost estimates together. 20. Assure that pricing of external resources is accurate and based on current availability. 21. Company: Barton Malow Company Job Location: MI (Travel) Position: Construction Manager (Solar) REQ ID: 11463 POSITION SUMMARY Barton Malow Company is seeking a Construction Manager to join our renewables team on Solar and Wind projects throughout the state of Michigan and throughout the Great Lakes region. The Construction Manager is responsible for oversight of planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities. The Construction Manager will lead project engineers and superintendents to execute construction projects within budget and schedule per the contract documents.
