Welder/Fabricator - Escanaba

Welder/Fabricator Escanaba, MI Job Summary: The Welder/Fabricator will be responsible for welding and fabricating metal components according to specifications. The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints, use hand and power tools, and operate welding equipment to join metal parts. The Welder/Fabricator will also be responsible for visually inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards before having welds inspected by the quality department. Skilled Bore Operator

Key Responsibilities: As an Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in efficiently completing job orders and supporting our team. Your day-to-day tasks will include: · Operating various equipment in placing cable and conduit (backhoe, mini-excavator, trencher, bore rig, plow). · Performing shoring, slope trenching, or excavation when necessary. · Identifying various soil types. · Working around located utilities. · Exposing existing utilities by hand-digging. · Reading prints for cable placement and consulting with the foreman regarding different approaches to the job. · Reporting equipment problems to the foreman. · Communicating with the foreman about current or unforeseen problems experienced on the job. · Knowing the progress and expectations of the job. · Preparing cable route. · Feeding cable. · Setting up pedestals. · Driving ground rods. · Compacting trench lines. Additional Duties: · Training in equipment operation and print reading. · Loading and unloading work supplies. · Placing signs, cones, and barricades when necessary. · Securing the job site and equipment at the end of the day. · Performing daily equipment maintenance (greasing equipment, checking oil, hydraulic fluid, and fueling). · Cleaning vehicles and equipment. · Completing and supervising job site restoration. · Assisting in training Laborers in all phases of utility construction. · Transporting heavy equipment (IF employee holds a valid CDL). · Supervise the crew in the absence of the foreman. Physical Demands: · Must have efficient eye-hand coordination. · Must be able to perform physical labor involving frequent lifting (over 50 lbs.), carrying, bending, and shoveling. · Must be able to work long periods of time, including nights and weekends. Desired Abilities: · Must be able to work with and around people and alone at times. · Must be able to comprehend and perform the responsibilities of the position. · Must be able to communicate competently. Qualifications: · Hold an insurance-acceptable driver’s license. · One to two years’ experience on a bore rig. · Must be at least 18 years of age.
