Job Description Staff Accountant We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our construction companys finance team. This role is vital to maintaining the financial accuracy of ongoing projects by supporting day-to-day accounting operations, tracking job costs, and preparing accurate financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction accounting practices, job costing, and progress billing. Key Responsibilities: • Manage accounts payable and receivable, with a focus on project billing and vendor payments • Prepare accurate journal entries and maintain the general ledger for construction transactions • Track and allocate job costs for labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment • Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and company credit cards • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes • Generate detailed project financial reports and assist project managers with cost tracking and budgeting • Maintain compliance with internal controls, industry regulations, and company accounting policies • Assist in audit preparation, including documentation for certified payroll, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance • Maintain and track fixed asset records such as vehicles and construction equipment Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry • Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or Foundation) • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and progress billing • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with general ledger systems • Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Experience and License Requirements • Account Payable • Accounts Receivable • Job Costing
