Construction Worker - Carpenter

Project Manager - Highway Heavy Road Construction

Location: MN, ND, SD, MT, IA, & NE Employment Type: Exempt, Full-Time, Year-Round Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (hours will vary based on project needs and the time of year) About the Role Central Specialties, Inc. is seeking a driven Project Manager to oversee heavy highway and civil construction projects from bid award through final completion. This role requires a strong balance of field presence, technical expertise, and leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably. Key Responsibilities • Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of assigned construction projects, including budget, schedule, subcontractors, and materials. • Oversee project setup, progress tracking, and closeout documentation. • Collaborate with Field Supervisors, and Executive Leadership to align project goals and performance metrics. • Review subcontractor agreements, change orders, and project invoices. • Conduct regular site visits to monitor work progress, safety compliance, and quality standards. • Maintain effective communication with owners, inspectors, and internal teams. • Lead project meetings and prepare reports summarizing progress, issues, and cost performance. • Support continuous improvement and adherence to company safety, environmental, and quality programs. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). • 3-5 years of project management experience in heavy civil, highway, or infrastructure construction is preferred. • Strong Microsoft skills, including Excel and Word. • Proficiency in construction scheduling, cost control, and contract administration. • Strong understanding of DOT specifications and construction materials (aggregate, asphalt, grading, utilities). • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Preferred Skills • Familiarity with HCSS Heavy Job, or similar project management and estimating software. • Experience with Minnesota, North/South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, and Nebraska DOT projects. • Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
