MACHINE OPERATOR I

Position Purpose The machine operator is responsible for unloading, loading, pulling orders, and the movement and sorting of cotton bales, to and from storage locations. General plant maintenance and assist maintenance personnel in the repairs of the fire protection systems as needed. What You Will Do • Perform all operations in compliance with safety policies and procedures., • Safely operate industrial lift trucks. • Unload, stack, and locate bales into inventory. • Breakout (order picking). • Sort and prepare bales per shipping orders. • Repair damaged bales. • Load bales from the staging areas onto outbound freight. • Maintain and fill out a daily lift truck checklist before every shift. • Use handheld devices. • Assist in routine building and grounds maintenance. • Assist Fire Prevention and Maintenance personnel in required regulatory testing and repairs. • Perform other duties as assigned. The above job functions are an overview of duties and must be noted that additional duties may be required as deemed necessary by the Plant Manager. Essential Skills and Background • High School diploma or equivalent preferred • Ability to effectively utilize cell phones, email, tablets, and computers. • Must possess a valid state driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one. All other certifications will be provided through PCCA-Warehouse as deemed necessary by management. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information, communicate and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and co-workers. • To perform this job successfully. Physical Requirements Operators main duties will include, the operation of a propane or electric powered industrial lift truck equipped with lifting devices, such as forklift, comm, scoop, lift beam and swivel-hook, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory. Operators must have full finger, hand, arm, foot, and leg dexterity and usage to properly and safely operate industrial lift trucks. Operators must be prepared to sit or stand for extended periods of time and be able to lift, carry, or move a minimum of 50 pounds. This description of an operator’s duties is an overview and may not include additional duties as required by the Plant Manager. About the position Responsibilities • Perform all aspects of CNC machine operation, including cutting and finishing parts. • Ensure proper tooling is used with precision tools such as saws, mills, etc. • Inspect machinery for any needed repairs; perform minor repairs within expertise. • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area. • Maintain accurate records for quality control checks on equipment. • Comply with company and industry safety standards and regulations. • Perform other related duties as assigned. JOB SUMMARY The CNC Operator Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. SALARY $19-$28 per hour (commensurate with experience) RESPONSIBILITIES • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads. • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
