General Position Description: This position exists for the purpose of performing a variety of machining and machine repair work. Machinist will operate industrial lathes, mills, drill press and grinding equipment. Machinist will be required to fabricate or repair new or damaged parts. Personally handle general repair work and maintenance on all equipment. Use various hand and power tools and operate all types of shop equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance and servicing tasks such as oiling, greasing, and inspections on equipment. Description of essential job functions: • Repair existing equipment and spare parts when machining is required. 80% • Measure various pieces of production equipment when not in operation for excessive wear. This requires the assembly, calibration and use of inside and outside micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges and calipers. 10% • Requires documentation of drawings, layouts, time sheets, work orders and cost reduction or safety proposals. 6% • Help troubleshoot equipment by observing equipment operation from an alignment perspective. 2% • Initiates necessary parts request form for required machine tooling so repairs can be completed. Stock and order materials required. This requires the employee to research machine tool handbooks and blueprints to determine part numbers or identification of needed tooling. 2% • Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager or designate. Preferred qualifications for this position: • High school diploma or GED. • Five or more years of experience as a machinist. • Two or more years of technical training, or school within the field • Some welding experience. • Strong math skills • Understanding of bearing application and machine design. In order to perform this job satisfactorily: • * Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, read and sketch blueprints, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, and work well with others. Physical requirements of this job: Normal bumps, bruises and strains may occur while performing daily job duties. Work requirements at times are physically demanding. However, most heavy objects are handled with a hoist. Possibility of lifting/moving 20-50 pounds is handled intermittently. The Machine Operator will work out of our Brownwood Texas manufacturing facility, and report to the Shift Manager. The key responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to: • Reviewed daily production needs and ensure adequate levels of raw materials in the work area to meet production needs • Obtains copy of production schedule or shipping orders • Utilize equipment and machinery and work with other operators to manufacturing products to meet production schedule / demand • Report and escalate any quality, safety and/or production issues to the appropriate teams when they arise • Performing daily equipment checks and lubricating equipment • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) • Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools • Test operation of machines periodically • Fix issues that might occur during the shift • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws • Maintain activity log and keep records of approved and defective units or final products • Make sure materials are clean before use • Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • GED, High School diploma or equivalent • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Able to multitask in a fast environment • Able to be flexible and work overtime • Able to be detail oriented • Have an understanding of safety and quality • Have an understanding of mechanical equipment • Must be willing to submit a background check and pre-employment drug screening • Must be eligible to work in the US PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Strong technical and mechanical repair skills • Proven experience as a machine operator • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty and high-speed machinery • Strong ability to use measurement tools • Good understanding of production procedures and best practices • Excellent knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations • Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and handbooks • Good physical stamina and keen attention to detail ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Ability to push, pull, carry, or lift up to 50 lbs. • Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours • Ascend/descend a ladder or stairs daily • Ability to operate a computer and other office technology • Ability to observe details at close range • Must be able to work in area with exposure to loud noises • Ability to work safely in areas with hazardous equipment and materials • Must be able to relay accurate information via multiple communication vehicles including verbal and written mechanisms • Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures • Occasionally position self to access low spaces BENEFITS • 401K matching • Medical • Dental • Vision • Short Term Disability • Long Term Disability • HSA & FSA • Pet Insurance • Life Insurance • Employee Assistant Program • Referral Program • And more!
