CNC Machinist (1st Shift)

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of CNC Manufacturing, the CNC Machinist will be responsible for producing varied, complex, and accurate tooling to supply prints to satisfy internal and external customers and for ensuring the production of complex, high-quality metallic and non-metallic parts. This role is on our 1st shift (Monday-Friday) from 6:00AM - 2:30PM Key Duties and Responsibilities • Operate and Perform CNC machine setups quickly, accurately, and efficiently. • Knowledge of Haas, Mazak, Grob and Kern CNC Machines and controls. • Understanding of GD&T • Use measurement tools to verify dimensions for compliance • Interpret and follow work orders • Understanding of mathematics. • Attention to detail and self-motivation. • Collaborate with senior machinists and CNC programmers to improve machining processes and efficiencies • Work and perform responsibilities in compliance with safety guidelines and wearing all PPE as needed for equipment interaction • Perform all other machining duties as assigned Requirements • 4+ years of proven experience as a CNC operator • High school diploma or GED • Proven experience as CNC operator • Skill in operating HAAS CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach • Good communication abilities Benefits • 100% Company-paid comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents • 401(k) Match • Flexible Time Off (FTO) Salary Range $22.00 - $30.00 per hour Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Job Title: CNC Operator Job Description We are urgently seeking CNC Operators to support our night shift operations. This role is critical to our production workflow and offers the opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing processes in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities • Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment using Mitsubishi controls. • Monitor production quality and troubleshoot issues to ensure high standards. • Load and unload materials to CNC machines efficiently. • Perform finishing grinding and sharpening materials with precision. • Follow safety and quality standards diligently. • Log time and production quantities accurately using LYNQ software. • Review work orders to understand material and time requirements. • Keep production and maintenance logs up to date. • Stay focused and manage time effectively to maintain a steady workflow. • Monitor and improve processes to boost efficiency and reduce waste. • Conduct regular inspections to ensure products meet quality standards. • Identify and correct defects promptly. • Keep the work area clean and organized following 5S standards. • Return tools to proper places and dispose of dirty shop towels. • Clean work holding devices and inspection tools throughout the day and at shift end. • Load/unload machines and perform safe starts, run wheel dressing programs, and adjust setups. • Inspect parts with 10x loupe and fine-tune with hand files. • Perform tool/wheel changes and make offset adjustments. • Troubleshoot and diagnose machine issues. • Perform manual and automated surface grinding using gauge blocks to adjust angles. • Sharpen blades, inspect with 10x loupe, and test blade cuts. • Use buffing wheels to remove burrs and polish parts. • Hand-finish tool profiles to meet specifications. • Train and support less experienced team members. • Participate in inventory counts and 5S activities. • Provide feedback for process improvements. • Attend safety training and assist with other tasks as needed.
