Position Overview: Motiva’s Refinery is looking to hire Outside Machinists – Pump Mechanics to join our team in Port Arthur. As a Pump Mechanic, you will perform preventative and predictive maintenance on pumps, fans, and other mechanical equipment. Maintenance tasks will include equipment troubleshooting, installation/removal, repair, and laser alignments. This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated position, and is subject to drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations. Responsibilities: • Perform complete overhauls on process pumps and ensure proper documentation of the repair, including equipment condition history within SAP. • Install, align, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair the various types of pumps. • Install, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair, and overhaul various types of air-intake blowers, fan variable pitch assemblies and air cooler fans. • Perform pump repair – including mechanical seal replacement. • Perform turbine removal, installation, and preventative maintenance. • Check and adjust speed control governors on turbines. • Remove and install gear boxes. • Read and interpret mechanical drawings. • Diagnose and apply results using a micrometer and other alignment tools for power-driven connections, such as laser alignment tools. • Perform other general maintenance activities, including work with cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment. • Adhere to safe work practices and permitting procedures.
