Davenport Machinist

SUMMARY: Manufacturing machined metal components on Davenport lathes. Profax will train the operator to read manufacturing prints, inspect parts, operate Davenport lathes, load raw material, adjust tooling, and replace tooling. Profax will teach the operator how to set-up Davenports, grind tools, and troubleshoot machining problems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Be receptive to and apply training and other teaching from Profax personnel and any other individuals brought in to teach and train • Read Manufacturing Prints • Load Raw Materials into Davenport Multi-Spindle Lathes • Adjust and Replace Tooling as necessary • Operate Davenport Multi-Spindle Lathes • Inspect finished parts • Follow all safety procedures and cautions • Good attendance and punctuality are required. You are expected to notify your supervisor and/or Human Resources if you cannot attend work as soon as possible. • Performs other related duties as assigned by management QUALIFICATIONS: · High school diploma or equivalent. · High Mechanical Aptitude. · Excellent communication and basic math skills. · Commitment to excellence and high standards. · Willing to listen to instructions. · Possess a Strong desire to Learn. · Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. · Ability to understand and follow safety requirements and cautions. · Ability to perform the physical labor necessary. · Machinist and/or Mechanic Experience is a plus. · Experience using measuring tools and gauges is a plus. Role Summary: The Machinist will operate a manual lathe and manual mill to machine stainless steel parts and components of flow control valves. The machinist will verify the quality of finished work with precision measurement tools. The Machinist will also operate a VTL. This is a second Shift position: Monday-Friday,4:00pm - 1:00amwith possible overtime during the week or weekend. Responsibilities & Requirements: • Inspect first articles and verify the quality of the finished work by using precision measurement tools and demonstrating an in-depth understanding of specifications and quality workmanship. • Meet production goals relating to efficiency, schedules, and scrap/rework. • Clean and maintain machines and tools and keep an organized workspace. • Apply an understanding of the process flow of documents, materials, and parts through the manufacturing process. • Work closely with other machinists to discuss and solve problems relating to repairs and equipment. • Collaborate with machine shop lead to discuss work-in-progress Preferred Experience / Skills: • Experience operating manual lathes and mills (5+ years); Vertical Turning Lathe • Expertise required in machining 300-series stainless steel and other materials such as Hastelloy C276, Monel 400, Inconel, iron nickel and high chrome alloys. • Working knowledge of machine tooling and processing required • Skill required in using and interpreting precision measuring instruments. • Strong blueprint reading skills required • Personal commitment to quality workmanship, with an ability to assess and explain quality concern to others • Able to accurately and consistently follow detailed procedures in order. • An eye for detail to check drawings, part numbers, and materials, and to correctly complete routers and other paperwork. • Work collaboratively as part of a team, showing a professional attitude and a service-oriented mindset in a fast-paced, flexible environment. • Demonstrated track record of reliable, on-time attendance, able to work overtime and weekends as required. • Standing for long times required, repetitive arm motions, frequent lifting of 25 lbs with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to complete math problems quickly and accurately. • High School diploma or equivalent.
