Job Title: Manual Machinist (Days) Job Description We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team in servicing and repairing pumps and rotating equipment. You will work in our shop reconditioning pumps based on blueprints and drawings, including split case pumps, overhung pumps, horizontal pumps, and multistage pumps. Must Haves • 5+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist • Proficiency in lathe machining and vertical mill (Bridgeport machine) • Experience with Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) • Ability to perform line bores on pumps • Strong blueprint reading skills • Experience with pump parts, micrometers, calipers, manual lathe, and manual mill Responsibilities • Recondition pumps from the field based on blueprints and drawings. • Perform line bores on pumps, drilling, facing, and squaring plates. • Work on base plates, internal pump parts, shafts, sleeves, rings, impellers, heads, and casings. • Handle part dimensions ranging from 4 inches to 7 feet, using materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and bronze. • Create serrated finishes for flanges, dial pins, cut diameters on IDs, and mount faces for bearing houses. • Cut keyways using horizontal boring mill. Work Environment You will work in a medium-sized, air-conditioned shop that is currently tight on space but will be moving to a larger facility in 2024 or 2025. The day shift operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Saturdays from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with two paid breaks and an unpaid lunch. Expect to work 50 to 60 hours per week with occasional Sundays, which are paid at double time. The night shift runs Monday to Friday from 3:30 PM to 2:30 AM, and Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, also with two paid breaks and an unpaid lunch. Night shift employees receive a 10% differential. Safety gear, including steel-toed shoes, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses, is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
