Job Title: Machinist Job Description As a machinist, you will set up and operate CNC machines and other equipment within your assigned cell. This role requires expertise in transferring commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links, and mounting, installing, aligning, and securing tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines. You will also be responsible for stopping machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, and measuring dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications. Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC machines and other equipment in assigned cell. • Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules using computer network links. • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines. • Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement. • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces using precision measuring instruments. • Listen to machines during operation to detect and adjust for problems. • Monitor control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions. • Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure proper usage of machinery, tools, and components. Essential Skills • Experience with CNC machining and lathe operations. • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. • Basic measuring, math, reading, and writing skills. • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. • Mechanical aptitude and computer literacy. • Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance. • High school diploma or GED required. • 6 to 9 months on-the-job training or related vocational training program required. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control). • Ability to identify complex problems and develop solutions. • Understanding of the English language including composition and grammar.
