Job Summary:We're looking for a skilled machine operator to join the team! Your main job is loading polyethyene resin and unloading completed parts from the rotational molding oven. The Role Under limited supervision, operates fabricating machines, such as cutoff saws, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and punch machines that cut, shape, and bend metal plates and sheets. Lays out, fabricates, assembles products, utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and nonmetallic materials, machining, and layout techniques, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. Your Responsibilities • Reads and interprets blueprints to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products. • Selects gauge and type of sheet metal, according to product specifications; sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template. • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or using templates. • Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials; selects positions and secures dies, blades, cutters, and fixtures onto machine, using rule, square, shims, templates, hand tools, and built-in gauges. • May rivet and spot weld work pieces, tend machines that fabricate or operate plasma arc cutter to cut patterns from sheet metal. • Adjusts controls to set and regulate machining factors, such as pressure and depth of ram stroke, adjustment rolls, blade angle, and machine speed; trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smoothes surfaces, using hand tools and portable power tools including file, hand grinder, wire brush, and/or vibre bowl. • Welds, rivets, clips, using hand tools, power tools, and equipment. • Inspects assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices. • Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges, and micrometers. • Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required for TPM. • Works individually and as a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements. • May be required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the department working at different workstations as production needs require. • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others. • Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials. Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities. Our Requirements • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with production processes, machines/ tools. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions and decimals. • Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. • Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
