JOB DETAILS LOCATION: West Bethesda MD JOB STATUS: FT TRAVEL: 0% REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Successful candidates will demonstrate the following • Three (3) to Seven (7) years of experience as a machinist in the fabrication of models and components for testing. • High school Diploma, trade/industrial school graduate, or GED equivalent required. • Current Secret Clearance DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS • Related military experience RESPONSIBILITIES The Mid Level Machinist supports on-site fabrication of models and large scale components in support of NSWC Code 80. Responsibilities include: • Performance of metalwork and non-metalwork activities to fabricate and fit models and components for testing • Operate machines and instruments; and perform material roll, cut, punch, press, drill and bore, grind, lap, polish, buff, lathe, turn, mill, drape, shape and plane, and weld. • Review and reconcile discrepancies between hardcopy drawings, CADD files, and other physical components requiring assembly. • Set up, operate, program, edit, and disassemble manual, automatic, and computer-numeric-controlled (CNC) machines and tool sets. • Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and work pieces for the CNC machines, equipment, and tool sets. • Monitor feed rate and machine speed; and perform adjustments for consistency. • Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects; and perform corrective action to bring within specified tolerance. • Provide fabrication support researching, planning, designing, advising, preparing, operating, inspecting, measuring, recording, testing, diagnosing, and documenting welding activities, sheet metal activities, and specialized tooling activities.
