Cutting Machine Operator

On Site Personnel is looking to an experienced cutting machine operator in Towson MD job description: The candidate will operate industrial cutting machines by following patterns and processes to manufacture awnings, heavy duty tents with sewn in magnets and products made from heavy-duty rubberized material. Responsibilities include setting up cutting machines, measure, cut and sewing different kinds of waterproof vinyl materials. Duties: • Use of industrial laser cutting machine • Able to perform vinyl finishing – Cutting, Trimming, Stitching, Seaming, Sewing Finishing . • Must have experience with upholstery fabrics and thick commercial materials (i.e. vinyl) • Read drawings/patterns and apply knowledge and experience with materials to determine types of finishing. • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting materials. • Prepares machine by changing needles and thread; securing attachments. • Approves materials by inspecting materials for flaws. • Sews materials together by guiding material under machine needle. • Adjusts machine performance on material by observing machine operation; detecting malfunctions; adjusting settings. • Maintains quality by inspecting finished product. • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions. • Ensure machines are in good working order and stay attentive to any problems • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in the sewing area • Maintains materials and supplies inventory by checking materials and supplies to determine inventory level; anticipating needed materials and supplies • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources. • Documents actions by completing work orders, production and quality logs. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. • Meet all time and scheduling deadlines. As a part of the Diagnostic Systems team, the Production Operator will engaged in work activities including but not limited to: Data Entry and complete line-supporting documentation. Will operate every station on the production line through packaging. Will be responsible for the replenishment of plastic parts and packaging supplies during the course of the run. Operator must be capable of lifting 50-LB rolls of foil stock. Will perform minor troubleshooting and assist Maintenance and Engineering with operating of equipment and diagnosing problems. The operator will be responsible for the automatic and manual operation of each station on the production line with minimal downtime. STATIONS INCLUDE: DISPENSE: Perform calibrations, train vision systems, overall operation of the line. The operator must be able to identify and resolve equipment problems such as underflow and overflow conditions. Must also be able to correct out-of-range problems, half-filled wells, and gauge dispense heads. Replace gripper o-rings, position walking beams, home magazines, and replace dispense tubing. The loading of parts, alignments of dispense heads are also task the operator must be able to handle. Must be able to correct faults involving the panel view system and perform all tasks associated with the appropriate documentation. OTHER: Works on production assignments that are moderately complex in nature. Uses independent judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, and troubleshoot and problem solve in areas on set up, operation and processes. Normally receives little instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Analyzes & evaluates in-process inspection procedures and takes corrective measures where appropriate. Mechanical aptitude needed to control machine operations including minor equipment repairs and identifying and resolving equipment problems. Maintains neat and accurate records and logs in accordance with FDA, GMP's and ISO. Effectively works in a team setting, supporting team goals and objectives. Makes an effective decision relative to position requirements. Utilizes ZIP and ZMS procedures to meet processing specifications. Completes and reviews batch history records for completeness. Assists in training of new associates. Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements (coming in early, or staying late). Functions in a team environment that may include team leadership activities. Interacts with fellow team members to assure high quality product, ZIP/ZMS compliance, and cooperative team performance. Responsible for the daily and weekly cleaning of room. Observes all safety and housekeeping standards. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND APTITUDE: This is a WEEKEND POSITION. Production Operator - Non-Merit

Regular Schedule: 39 hours per week A non-merit vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Solid Waste Management.
