Job Description As the Machinist, you will: • Prioritize safety above all else by maintaining a rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes, ensuring that safety risks and issues are identified, reported, and addressed immediately; • Follow methods, standards, and work instructions to: • Set up and operate a variety of machines performing various machining operations from simple to very complex using both manual and CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machining equipment (including, but not limited to - mills, drills, grinders, lathes, horizontal / vertical bore); • Select and grind tools in accordance with hardness, machine capability, and properties of material to be machined; • Use a variety of measuring devices; • Use a variety of associated shop equipment and tooling; • Embrace a culture of respect, valuing inclusive teams and diverse perspectives to direct and train others as assigned, enabling the flow of information by inviting participation and responding productively; • Approach daily work with continuous improvement in mind, working to continuously develop and improve mechanical assembly department practices to reduce cycle time, improve machine availability and efficiency, and lower operating costs. Qualifications / Requirements: • High School Diploma / GED or Equivalent OR 4 years of relevant manufacturing experience • Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating machining equipment such as boring bars, vertical boring mills, horizontal boring mills, and other equipment used to support repairs of steam / gas turbines and generator equipment • Minimum of 4 years' experience reading blueprints • Minimum of 5 years' experience using precision measuring instruments Eligibility Requirements: • Open to first or second shift (7am-330pm and/or 3pm-1130pm) • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future • Ability and willingness to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations • Ability and willingness to obey all safety rules including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection in designated areas • Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends, as business needs dictate • Position is required to be onsite at the Richmond, VA Desired Characteristics: • Successfully completed related courses and obtained Machinist's Journeyman's Card • Ability to maintain rigorous adherence to safety standards and processes; • Demonstrated ability to perform inclusively in a diverse environment and to promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace; • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or Trade School Degree from an accredited college, university, or trade school • CNC, M and G code programming experience • Large CNC lathe, Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM), or Large Vertical Boring Mill (VBM) experience • Experience with operating at least two of the smaller CNC machines without direct supervision: Small HBM, Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL), Farrel Lathe Pay Transparency: The pay for this position is A-Level role at $36.00-44.50/hour for early career hires. This position is also eligible for a $2.00/hour shift differential hourly rate increase. Position: Machinist (ONSITE) Pay Range: $52,000-$56,160, based on experience Position Overview: The Machinist makes, repairs and improves a variety of tools that enable the production of approximately 20,000 small parts for our customers, including jewelry, contract castings, findings, mill products and eco-friendly metal refining.
