Job Title: CNC Mill Operator Job Description As a CNC Mill Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring product quality by re-milling parts with defects, inspecting product runs, and performing quality tests and measurements. You will operate a 4 Axis CNC Mill, with training provided for candidates experienced in 3 Axis CNC Mill operation. This role involves a combination of machine operation and quality lab work. Responsibilities • Re-mill parts as defects are found. • Gather, collect, and inspect product runs across the facility. • Test and measure parts manufactured, re-milling errors discovered. • Operate and monitor a 4 Axis CNC Mill, changing machine parts and codes as necessary. • Perform quality functions in the Quality Lab, including testing, documenting, measuring, and re-testing products. • Conduct heavy documentation, data entry, data tracking, reporting, and software usage for quality-related information. • Cross-train to run other products and perform housekeeping and general labor duties as needed. • Inspect dies with manual and digital tools and finish and polish dies using hand grinders and grinding wheels. • Operate lab equipment for testing and visual inspections. • Use precision measurement tools to check dimensions. • Kit and assemble dies, and operate overhead cranes. CNC Machinist -Second Shift 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM Job Summary Produces parts by programming or running CNC machines, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. CNC Machinist Essential Job Functions: • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. • Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads. • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards. • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Ear plugs are provided for work performed where noise is a factor. Other: • Must have own basic tools. The list of teammates provided tools includes box/open end/socket wrench sets, Allen wrench set, screwdriver set, tap handles, pliers, combination square, 9" level and tape measure. English and metric tool sets are recommended.
