Machinist II

The Machinist II position is responsible for operating at least 1 line of production equipment (CNC / Conventional Mill / Lathe) in safe manner and in accordance with standard operating procedures with no direct supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Set up and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine to produce machine parts by performing the following duties with no direct supervision. • Reviewing work orders, engineering drawings, surface locations, machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances. • Under no supervision sets tool registers and offsets; calculates requirements using basic math. • Under no supervision, sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. • Maintains specifications by observing operations; detecting malfunctions; inspecting parts to close tolerances; adjusting offsets; replacing tooling. • Understands and interprets aspects of program and how it relates to machining processes. • Ability to provide guidance, advice, training, and limited direction at times to lesser experienced machinists. • Utilize ERP for system entries and job tracking. • Cleans and maintains work area. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a machinist for a manufacturer. • Intermediate skills and knowledge using tools for manufacturing such as drill press, lathe, mill, or vertical or horizontal cut off saw. • Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of fitment as it relates to parts manufacturing and assembly. • Experience in evaluating quality through inspection, controls, and instruments (caliper and micrometers). • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted. • Ability to stand for 8 hours.

Machinist I - Plastics (1st Shift)

Position Summary: This position is responsible for setting up and operating Manual machines, CNC machining centers, and other value-added equipment, loading and creating programs through data transfer and MDI programming. Works with leads, planners, and supervisors to achieve production goals. The machinist is responsible for interpreting complex blueprints and producing quality parts according to specifications and time restraints. Requires considerable autonomy with little to no supervision to perform duties of the job. Essential Functions: • Assist Leads, programmers, and supervisor on setups and execution of projects. • Set up and operate machine tools as required to meet drawing specifications for tools and fixtures. This includes G-Code/MDI and/or the independent creation of CAD/CAM programs for CNC programming of machine tools. • Utilize experience and expertise in machining to assist programming team by developing labor assisting tools and fixtures. Incorporate lean practices to eliminate waste, create better flow, reduce bottle necks, and achieve SMED. Identifies and removes inefficiencies from programs through awareness and process engagement. • Assist in the daily preventative maintenance programs for all machine tools under your control. Repair minor damage to machinery and tooling. • Train machine operators in the proper setup and operation of machine tools. • Performs other duties as assigned.
