Properly labels, matchmarks, and organizes parts for efficient reassembly. • Reads and interprets drawings, technical specifications and set up documentation. • Identifies different types of materials visually, such as bronze vs. mild steel. • Lifts metal part or stock onto machine and secures it on table, in chuck or holding fixture to set up the machine. • Adds coolant to reservoirs of machines and lubricates machine parts and ways. • Machines and modifies simple parts and equipment to meet requirements. REQUIRED: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); general technical service skills; prior experience working as a Machinist under the supervision of a senior level employee until able to complete all Level 1 tasks proficiently, according to quality and safety standards, without supervision; able to train and supervise the work of lower level machinists and knowledge of: • Pump and motor mechanics, operation and installation. • Use of test equipment and measuring instruments. • Use of milling and turning machines. • Industrial hazards, safety and health precautions and environmental concerns. • Relevant ordinances and regulations.
