Harris Machine is looking for full-time Machinist to join our Harris Machine Team. Qualifications we are looking for are 2-year degree in Machining or 10 years of experience preferred. Experience laying out and fabrication parts, and experience utilizing precision equipment and working from product design prints and sketches. Job duties will vary but in general will consist of: Setup and operate one or more machines such as lathes, mills, horizontal boring machine, etc. and perform machining operations consisting of many details on a wide variety of non-repetitive parts, holding close tolerances. Identify tooling, write and edit programs, knowledgeable on multiple controls, use all @types of measuring equipment. Perform set-ups, work from part prints and job specifications. Plan sequence of work to be performed and determine tools and equipment tools and equipment needed to carry work to completion. Make all required mathematical calculations, lay out parts using measuring instruments. Determine machine feed and speed for work involved. Use various @types of tools and equipment including material handling equipment, lathes, mills horizontal boring machines, jigs, fixtures, measuring gauges and instruments and applicable hand and power tools. Key Responsibilities: · Quote, program, and set up new parts and processes in CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines. · Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate machining. · Accurately determine cycle times, fixturing, and tooling requirements based on print specifications. · Work with vendors to source tooling and optimize machining processes. · Layout and set up CNC machines for efficient operation. · Program CNC machines using CAM software and manually edit G-code as needed. · Perform first-piece inspections and adjust setups to ensure precision and quality standards. · Inspect parts throughout the machining process, from setup through first-piece approval. · Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize processes for efficiency and accuracy. · Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and quality procedures. · Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes and workflow. · Document setup instructions and best practices for repeatability and process improvement. Qualifications & Requirements: · Minimum 3+ years of CNC horizontal/vertical milling experience in a precision machining environment. · Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications. · Experience quoting new parts, programming, and determining cycle times, tooling, and fixturing requirements. · Ability to work with vendors to procure tooling and improve machining efficiency. · Proficiency in CNC programming and setup of new parts. · Familiarity with CAM software and G-code editing. · Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. · High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Preferred Qualifications: · Experience with multi-axis machining. · Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization. · Prior experience working in an ISO-certified environment.
