HVAC Technician - FT/Nights - University Hospital

Overview Details: This position is full-time, 40 hours a week. This position will work 4-10-hour shifts (Monday-Thursday) from 9:00pm until 7:30am. Operates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs all heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration related electromechanical equipment and HVAC related systems throughout various facilities. Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs HVAC electrical, electronics, pneumatics and mechanical applications of systems. Utilizes a basic understanding of the following, but not limited to, air handling units (AHU's), freezers, walk-in refrigerators, special room air balancing (i.e. isolation systems and laminar flow systems), laminar flow systems motor controllers, HEPA filtering requirements, and electronic, HVAC/VAV boxes. Performs other related duties as assigned. • High School Diploma or GED required. • Requires Universal CFC. • Requires general knowledge of electrical, electronics, mechanical equipment repair and HVAC related systems. • Requires current knowledge of various federal; state; local; OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and Joint Commission codes and regulations. • Requires general knowledge of HVAC codes applicable to hospitals. • Requires the ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams. • Requires basic computer skills. •.Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. • Experience working in industrial or commercial maintenance is preferred.

HVAC Mechanic

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT • Schedule: 3 days a week, Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00 pm • Assist in the temporary shutdown of the facility’s HVAC equipment, systems, and electrical components necessary for renovation, repair, and new construction projects. • Design, construct, install and remove various facility HVAC equipment, systems, and HVAC components. • Diagnose malfunctions in the facility’s HVAC equipment, systems, or HVAC components and take appropriate corrective and preventative actions. • Maintain appropriate documentation for the facility’s HVAC equipment, systems, and HVAC components. • Maintain appropriate inventory of replacement electrical equipment and systems. • Maintain the hospital computerized maintenance management system through the appropriate completion of work orders and the recording of equipment history. • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on all facility HVAC and refrigeration equipment, systems, and components in accordance with prescribed procedures. • Provide quality control for new installations or replacements of the facility’s HVAC and refrigeration equipment, systems and HVAC components performed by others. • Respond to emergency situations such as electrical outages, HVAC equipment failures, ruptured pipe, fires or other hospital codes per hospital and department emergency response plans.
