Position Brand Description: The HVAC-R/Mechanic is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining chillers and refrigerant-containing equipment in LTC utilities. They also assist in maintaining various utilities such as high purity water, compressed air, steam, chilled water, glycol, city water, and sewers, ensuring that equipment and buildings are well-maintained. Additionally, they support craftspeople in multiple trades, provide good customer service, maintain EPA compliance documentation, and offer guidance and coaching to operations, engineering, and the automation team. Key Objectives/Deliverables: • Comply with all HSE aspects, support departmental HSE plans, and participate in Safety Improvement activities. • Become qualified to perform duties requiring LOTO, lifts, respirators, confined space, and fall protection. • Document all work performed by following Good Documentation Practices. • Support Supervisor and Planner/Scheduler to create and improve Job Plans, and procedures. • Perform repairs and overhaul basic Equipment (e.g., gear boxes, pumps, blowers, and fans). • Perform repairs and overhaul equipment to include disassembly, setting tolerances, and alignment (e.g., air compressors, vacuum pumps). • Use Performance Management (PM) to manage objectives and development that align with organizational and corporate priorities. • Use basic CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) functionality on a daily basis. • Maintain refrigerant service records. • Keep up to date on technical/specialty skills for all utility equipment you service. • Mentor/train new craft personnel to utilities. Basic Requirements: • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude. • Must possess a valid driver’s license. • Must be willing to respond to call-in and scheduled overtime work. • Must be capable of lifting to 40 pounds. • Must be able to withstand exposure to temperature variations while performing work outside in winter and summer weather conditions. • Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience • Universal EPA refrigerant license Additional Skills/Preferences: • Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate in a mechanical discipline, or equivalent experience. Applicable military service training may be an acceptable alternative. • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing production environment or relevant field preferred • Experience with a regulated industry; FDA regulated industries preferred. • Must be able to speak, read, and write English at a sufficient level to communicate technical and business information effectively. • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in troubleshooting equipment failures. • Ability to follow written procedures while performing maintenance activities. • Good documentation practice and communication skills (both written and verbal) • Familiar with set-up and operation of Maintenance Shop hand tools & equipment; machining and welding capability a plus. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints/schematics. • Must be able to effectively work in a team/collaborative environment. • Willingness to work outside of your craft, as required. • Proficiency in using a CMMS (e.g., Maximo) or other work order tracking system. • Microsoft Applications Knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Education Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent Other Information: • This position is for 8 hour Monday-Friday.
