HVAC Refrigeration Specialist

Please note that this position is based on our campus in Madison, WI, and requires relocation to the area. We recruit nationally and provide financial relocation assistance. We're seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Kitchen Equipment and Refrigeration Technician to ensure our state-of-the-art kitchens and onsite bakeries operate at peak performance. In this essential role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of commercial kitchen appliances, refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment for our 9 million square foot campus. Your expertise will help prevent equipment failures, minimize downtime, and support the seamless operation of our world-class culinary team. Key Responsibilities • Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial cooking equipment • Install, calibrate, and optimize kitchen ventilation and appliance systems • Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections • Ensure compliance with OSHA, refrigeration, gas, and electrical safety standards • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to resolve technical issues Core Equipment You'll Work On • Refrigeration: Walk-in coolers/freezers, blast chillers, ice machines • Cooking Equipment: Commercial ovens, fryers, steam kettles, tilt skillets • Ventilation & HVAC: Exhaust hoods, rooftop HVAC units, make-up air systems • Dishwashing & Sanitation: High-capacity dishwashers, automated sanitation systems Live affordably in a city known for its rising tech talent. The role emphasizes proactive maintenance through detailed record-keeping and anticipating repair needs, with a strong emphasis on HVAC/R systems operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Your day-to-day tasks will include: • Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, equipment, and components • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, and plumbing systems • Handle building interior/exterior repairs, grounds maintenance, and production equipment for assigned buildings • Study and become familiar with various equipment types and proper operating methods required for daily activities • Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting conditions that impact client occupancy and operations • Submit P-card receipts daily and update work order status in real time • Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for documenting all work performed • Respond to call-in work and perform other duties as required • Troubleshoot and repair commercial refrigeration systems including rack refrigeration and supermarket equipment Desired experience and technical skills Requirements: • MUST have commercial refrigeration experience (such as working with rack refrigeration or supermarket refrigeration equipment) • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience • HVAC technicians must have a Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment) • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair and maintenance • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license Preferred: • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC/R • Must be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required #HVACjobs Location: On-site –Indianapolis, IN If this job description resonates with you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet all the requirements. Maintenance Technician - Refrigeration and HVAC - Bakery

Shift: 6:00 PM-6:00 AM Hourly Rate: $0.00 an hour + $0.50 shift differential SUMMARY As a Refrigeration Technician, you are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the boilers, air and ammonia compressors, condensers, steam control systems, and fire suppression. You will report to the Engineering Manager at our Indianapolis Bakery plant. Pay starts at $32.92 per hour.
