ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Utility Electrician plays a vital role in the smooth operation of utility facilities. Their primary job functions involve installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the utility. This includes transformers, generators, switchgear, control panels, and other electrical components. The Utility Electrician will conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met. Additionally, they will troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, diagnose problems, and implement appropriate systems and regulations essential for maintaining operational efficiency and preventing hazardous situations. This position qualifies as safety sensitive under PSC guidelines. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintaining utility electrical equipment and systems • Installation and modification of electrical equipment • Preventative maintenance and inspections • Thermography and megger testing of switchgear, cabling, and large motors • Troubleshooting and repair • Work on 13,800 volt, 4,160 volt, 2,400 volt, and 480 volt electrical systems • Work on DC battery systems and battery chargers • Work on generator excitation systems • Accurate record keeping KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Employee must have completed an accredited electrical systems training or possess equivalent experience and knowledge. Employee will have the ability to use required hand tools, read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents. Employee must be able to work with all electrical phases and gensets. Employee must possess a knowledge of mechanical and operational of electrical systems present within the Utility. Employee must possess a good knowledge of the service area for Kennett and its’ power sources. Employee must have the ability and willingness to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Employee must be capable of supervision and seek to maintain good public relations practices when working with the public. Anthony Street, Kennett, Missouri and are bound to the west by the St. Francis River located approximately 4.4 miles west, and to the east by Little River Floodway Ditch located approximately 3.85 miles east. All new hires are required to adhere by this policy and must meet the residency requirements within six months of their hire date. All employees shall have a telephone at their place of residence, landline or cellular service is acceptable. Unlisted telephone numbers will be permitted providing the number be made available to all departments of CLGW. If a cellular service is chosen, signal reliability is required. This is the responsibility of the employee. General and Administrative employees must have a reliable internet connection furnished in the event remote work is forced.
