Carpenter 1 Warren State Hospital

THE POSITION Utilize your skills in carpentry at Warren State Hospital! We are seeking a skilled Carpenter 1 to join our Facility Services, Carpenter Shop Team. This position requires a skilled, self-motivated, and independent thinker to complete assignments to help us ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. If you have been looking for an opportunity to use your specialized skill set, apply today! DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Carpenter 1, you will perform skilled work in the carpentry and structural trades. This will include carpentry, masonry, plastering, painting, roofing, flooring, and concrete work. In this position, you will repair and install doors, locks, and windows. You will repair and replace a broad range of building items, equipment, furniture, and other hardware. You may be required to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, or manufacturers’ recommendations to lay out and complete job assignments. You can expect to lay out and construct or repair walls, ceilings, and floors. Additionally, you may serve as a lead worker for semi-skilled or laborer workers. Interested in learning more? REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: • Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or • Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
